Kingdom Hearts Unchained X Smartphone Game Rebrands as Union X in April

New version adds 6-player multiplayer quests, new story arc

Square Enix announced on Friday that it plans to relaunch its Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ smartphone game under the title Kingdom Hearts Union χ [Cross] in April. The company streamed a teaser video on Friday for the game.

Square Enix also began streaming a Japanese trailer for the game on Friday. The new version will launch in Japan later this month. The Japanese video revealed that the new version of the game will include six-player multiplayer quests and a new story arc.

Both the English and Japanese websites for the new game are hosting pre-registration campaigns.

Square Enix originally released the Kingdom Hearts χ ("chi", pronounced "key") PC browser game in 2013, and the game ended service in September. The prequel game is set during the events of the Keyblade War. In the game, players create their own avatar and play as a keyblade wielder.

The game inspired the Kingdom Hearts Unchained χ smartphone game, which Square Enix released in Japan in September 2015 and then released in North America in April 2016.
