DLE Produces New Gag Anime For Yōkai Ningen Bem Franchise

New Ore-tacha Yōkai Ningen TV anime premieres in October

Animation studio DLE Inc. (Eagle Talon, Glass no Kamen Desu ga) announced on Saturday that it is producing a new gag television anime series for the Yōkai Ningen Bem (Humanoid Monster Bem) franchise. The new anime, titled Ore-tacha Yōkai Ningen, will premiere in October.

Ore-tacha Yōkai Ningen stars:

ADK is credited with the original work, with NAS and DLE as producers. Yuzuru Adachi (Henkei Shōjo shorts) is directing the series of anime shorts at DLE. Kaisei Kishi is in charge of photography and compositing, and Yūki Sudō is in charge of sound effects.

The new anime is part of the 50th anniversary project for the franchise. Also as part of the 50th anniversary commemorations, Tokyo MX and BS11 will rebroadcast the original 1968-1969 classic supernatural adventure anime starting this fall. The channels will also rebroadcast the 2006 remake anime.

In the original 26-episode anime, Bem, Bera, and Bero are ugly humanoid monsters (yōkai) who fight for justice. The monsters live among humans and protect them from evil yōkai. The three find themselves ostracized from both humans and other yōkai, but the three continue to fight in hopes of one day becoming humans themselves.

A new 26-episode remake series aired in 2006. The anime inspired a 10-episode live-action television series starring KAT-TUN's Kazuya Kamenashi in 2011, and then a live-action film with the same cast in December 2012.
