Danganronpa 3 Anime's Future Arc Gets Stage Play Adaptation
posted on by Karen Ressler
The Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School anime will get a stage play adaptation next summer. The story will follow a killing game between members of the Future Foundation, like the anime's "Future Arc."
Shun Nishime will play the main character Makoto Naegi and InnocentSphere's Hideyuki Nishimori is directing and writing the scripts.
Danganronpa 3 The Stage 2018 ~The End of Hope's Peak High School~ will open in Tokyo from July 20-23, Osaka from July 27-29, and again in Tokyo from August 3-13.
Unlike the first Danganronpa The Animation series, the Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School anime was not directly based on a Danganronpa game. Instead, it was divided into two arcs: Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School: Despair Arc, which told a prequel story starring the main characters from the Danganronpa 2 game, and Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School: Future Arc, which told a sequel story following characters from the original Danganronpa game. Both arcs aired simultaneously in summer 2016. Funimation streamed both as they aired.
The original Danganronpa game inspired a stage play in 2014 and a rerun in 2016. Danganronpa 2 also inspired a stage play in 2015, and it had a rerun this past March.
The most recent game in the series, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, shipped in Japan in January and in the West in September. The game featured a new cast and a different story from the Danganronpa 3 anime.
