Bandai Namco Entertainment revealed on Thursday that it will end service of its Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation Next game on March 28. The game will end sales of paid items on January 31.
The free-to-play game launched for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in August 2015. Featuring similar gameplay as its predecessor, the sequel introduces Mobile Suits from Mobile Suit Z Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, and Mobile Suit Gundam Wing.
The game is a continuation of the PS3 game Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation, which launched in Japan for the PS3 in June 2012, and ceased operations on July 31, 2017. In Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation, the first free-to-play game for the Gundam franchise, four to six players could join either the Earth Federation or Zeon Forces to play against each other. Players could not only pilot the giant Mobile Suits of the Gundam world, but could also attack enemies in vehicles or even on foot.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Battle Operation 2 launched in Japan on the PS4 on July 26.
