Taiki Satō, Toshiki Masuda to reprise roles for project focusing on Oda Nobunaga, Saika Magoichi

The Twitter account for the Rusted Armors (Sabiiro no Armor) multimedia project announced on Thursday that the project is getting an anime adaptation. A website for the anime project opened on Thursday.

Taiki Sato from Fantastics from Exile Tribe and will reprise the role of Magoichi from the multimedia project's stage play for the anime. Voice actor Toshiki Masuda will also reprise his role as Oda Nobunaga from the stage play.

The project started as a stage play that ran in Tokyo and Osaka in June 2017, and the second play, Rusted Armors: Tsunagu (visual below), opened at The Galaxy Theatre in Tokyo on Thursday. The show runs in Tokyo until June 16 before playing in Aichi on June 22-23 and in Osaka on June 27-30.

Artist hagi launched a manga version (pictured below) on January 15 in Kodansha's Monthly Comic Gene magazine. The first volume shipped on May 27.

Normally, "2.5-D" stage play projects are based on existing anime or manga, but with the Rusted Armors project the stage play started first. Nelke Planning oversees the project. The project focuses on the relationship between the gun-toting Magoichi — who is the leader of the Saika Ikki mercenary group — and the Sengoku era warlord Oda Nobunaga.
