Crunchyroll, Funimation to Stream A Certain Scientific Accelerator Anime

Crunchyroll stream begins on Friday, Funimation English dub debuts on July 26

Crunchyroll and Funimation announced on Thursday that they will stream the television anime of A Certain Scientific Accelerator (Toaru Majutsu no Index Gaiden: Toaru Kagaku no Accelerator) manga. Crunchyroll will begin streaming the anime worldwide outside of Asia on Friday, July 12 at 1:30 p.m. EDT. Funimation will begin streaming the series for users in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand with an English dub on July 26 at 4:00 p.m. EDT.

The anime will premiere in Japan on on AT-X at 10:00 p.m. on July 12, and it will also run on the Tokyo MX, MBS, and BS11 channels, as well as on the AbemaTV service that night. The show is listed with 12 episodes.

The anime stars:

Nobuharu Kamanaka (Big Order) is directing the anime at J.C. Staff. Kenji Sugihara (Clockwork Planet, Shiki) is in charge of series composition. Yohei Yaegashi (Tsūjō Kōgeki ga Zentai Kōgeki de Ni-kai Kōgeki no Okā-san wa Suki desu ka?, Aki no Kanade) is designing the characters. Jin Aketagawa (Children of the Whales, anohana) is the sound director, and Maiko Iuchi (A Certain Magical Index, A Certain Scientific Railgun) is returning to compose the music. THE SIXTH LIE are performing the opening theme song "Shadow is the Light," and sajou no hana are performing the ending theme song "Parole."

Arata Yamaji began the spinoff series about A Certain Magical Index character Accelerator in Kadokawa's Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine in 2013.
