CyberConnect2 Develops New Anime Game

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
President, CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama teases development

CyberConnect2 president and CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama revealed in a Q&A video on October 2 that the game studio is developing a new game based on anime. Matsuyama revealed the development in response to a question asking if the developer wants to make another anime-based game similar to the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm game series. The video with Matsuyama's response features both Japanese and English subtitles.

The first Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm game shipped on the PlayStation 3 in North America in November 2008 and in Japan in January 2009. The most recent installment in the series, the Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Trilogy (Naruto Shippūden: Narutimate Storm Trilogy) game bundle, debuted for the PlayStation 4 in Japan in July 2017 and in the West in August 2017. The game then launched for the Nintendo Switch in the Americas, Europe, and Japan in April 2018.
