Manga Masquerade dance comes to JACON 2006

JACON 2006 PREMIERS MANGA MASQUERADE FORMAL DANCE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

8 A.M. EST, April 11, 2006

ORLANDO, FL, APRIL 11, 2006: JACON, Central Florida's most successful fan-based anime and Japanese culture convention, has announced a new event to its 2006 entertainment lineup… THE MANGA MASQUERADE: HEARTS OF THE KINGDOM. Produced in conjunction with Wasabi Anime, this prom style event is slated to be a formal ball to give costume makers and cosplayers (along with other convention guests) the chance to enjoy a night of music and atmospheric entertainment.

The night's festivities will include a live DJ playing requests, a charity auction (where you could win a dance with one of JACON's celebrity guests), and other surprises. Upon entry to the dance, all attendees will be entered to win a brand new PlayStation 2 game system, a copy of the games “Kingdom Hearts” and “Kingdom Hearts 2”, and a “Kingdom Hearts 2” strategy guide. (Attendee must be present at the drawing to win the prize.) Light snacks will be served during the Masquerade.

Due to the specific nature of this uniquely styled event, a formal dress code will be in effect. If you are unsure if your outfit qualifies or have a question regarding the dress code, please contact [email protected].

Entry into the event is included with your admission into JACON 2006. There is no additional cover charge.

JACON started in 2000 on the campus of the University of Central Florida as a gathering for fans of Japanese animation and related media. Themed events throughout the weekend feature viewings, panels, dances, game shows, and more. Entertainment and programming are geared towards all aspects of the fan culture including artwork, costuming, films, and video games. This year's lineup includes The Wasabi Animusical II: Electric Boogaloo, The Manga Masquerade: Hearts of the Kingdom, The Costume Cabarat costume contest, Limbo (an alternate music centric event), and Wasabi Anime's Otaku Insomnia dance party.

JACON continues to this day to be run and operated by students and fans who wish to educate and entertain about this popular and ever-expanding fan culture.

Admission prices are as follows:

• FRIDAY - $15

• SATURDAY - $20

• SUNDAY - $15

• WEEKEND PASS - $40
