I think this is a great idea and I think there is enought anime lovers in the U.S to support it. Is I am the only one who is tired of waiting until late night or waiting until my import of my favorite anime to arrive to get my anime fix. Why can 4kids,AS,and Funimation join forces to make one kick ass anime channel. If you package they best show into the primetime lineup. You got a tv blockbuster there. Futhermore, if they got a all video games network like G4tv on Digtal Cable why can they have an all anime network

Yea ADV channels is called TAN (the anime network) I had a free preview of it when I first changed to my new cable, but I didn't really enjoy the channel. You think an all anime channel would be good, but it's alright I am still into watching the DVD more then anything.

Also as for every anime company coming together to make the super channel, it won't happen contracts and everything else would make it impossible. Not to mention everyone arguing over which shows go into what time slot.

The only thing I know thats close to what you are talking about is The Anime Network. But to my understanding, only certain VOD providers give you the full thing. http://www.theanimenetwork.com/index.php I've been begging my parents to change our satellite provider because Dish on Demand sucks and only provides a small amount Anime Network shows on pay per view, which is lame. I don't know actually which providers provide the 24/7 anime craziness, but there are ones that do. They have a list on the website that describes the Anime Network services it has for each VOD provider. But if you check out their schedule that have some pretty good shows on that I wish I could watch. Sad

The Anime Network is OK, it did introduce me to some good ADV titles, but many are just not my taste (more girly shows, such as kaleido star, pretear princess tutu etc.etc.) and they really haven't had anything good since Cromartie High School IMO.

I guess I can take this momment to see if any one else noticed this about ANOD. This is where I first saw both Noir and Madlax, and both of those series did some very scewey things. Noir showed each episode, then skipped episode 25 and had episode 26 on for a few days, then just took it off and has had episode 24 on it and only ep 24 for like the past 3 months. With Madlax, they did not even show the final episode and then completely took the series off. I'm glad I went ahead and bought both series' before these nasty skips and cuts.

While you can have some successful titles that are anime, an all-anime channel simply wouldn't have enough content to be seen as successful, because-

1. You have to deal with first, both US and JP licensors, in regards to what you want shown.

2. A lot of Anime just isn't that good, certianly not worth a re-watch.

3. Anime fandom is very divided, and the actual diversity of Anime is far too spread out for there to be a good mix.

4. Just because subtitled versions are popular on the Internet, doesn't mean they'd garner good or good-enough ratings.

I have to disagree, anime fandom is certainly large enough, and just taking a look at some of the channels out there its obvious even the most inane subject matters (game-show channel anyone?) can find an audience.

What I fail to understand is why neither the Funi or ADV channel has made its way to basic cable? Its such a hasstle to try and get either currently but if it was easily available, I'd sure as hell watch, as would almost everyone I've talked to about this.

Yeah, but it's not like game-shows are a specifically foreign item, that's subbed and released on the internet months to years before hitting stateside. You've got a lot of fandom who specifically only watch fansubs, some who watch DVD, and then people who arent nessecerally fandom watching AS, which is technically considered 'cream of the crop'.

The two all anime tv networks that I know of right now are The Anime Network and Funimation channle. But I don't even know how to get them on pay-per-view since I'm not from certain places TAN and FC are shown in. That's why I never watched any ADV shows and Black Cat might air on FC but I won't watch it because I don't know how to get to get to that channle.

More then likely there not available in your area or available for Television subscription. Also I see TAN all the time on my premium cable but it's only on demand. And I don't think I will be spending any money on that, specially when I already have netflix for anime.

Well often times AS no longer has the rights to show certain anime that they had previously shown. This was discussed in part in the anime night thread (for the winner who picked all anime on [AS]) but if AS became it's own channel the content would have to be tone down a bit. [AS] gets away with lots of violence and foul language because it's airs so late at night, it's like how Comedy Central can air South Park uncut at 3 in the morning.

It's still too niche of a market for cable providers to add onto their basic tiers. The networks on basic cable have more mainstream appeal and better known brand names, and are often owned by much larger corporations.
