I was posting on another forum, and a guy said that Gundam Seed was for children with low inteligence(which may be true...is that how you spell it? LoL). Anyways, I was wondering, for all you Gundam Seed fans out there, like myself, how old are you, just trying to get an average to see if it is for "children." I myself am sixteen.

Here you go, I'm 27, and one of my best frriends is 25, and we both love SeeD.

That gives you a bit more to work with since we are people who are actually past our teens.

Regardless of whether or not it appealed to an older audience, the intended demographic for Gundam SEED is children. This was plainly stated by Mitsuo Fukuda, the show's director, long before it even started. I don't recall his exact quote word for word, but it basically stated that they would try to keep the interest of veteran fans while the main focus was on hooking a new generation of fans on Gundam.

Think about it like this: except for Turn A Gundam, which aired in 1999, there hasn't been a new Gundam series since Gundam X in 1996. Turn A was aimed squarely at veteran Gundam fans, so it's been seven years since there was a real "entry-level" alternate universe series. SEED was intended to get kids who may not even remember the first round of AU shows into the Gundam universe.

So, to answer your question, yes, the show is for children. That doesn't necessarily mean anyone older can't enjoy it. I'm eighteen years old and I love Dragon Ball. As for SEED...well, I suppose it could have been worse, but it also could have been much better.

It's a "new" story set in an alternate universe -- with "new" in quotes because well, a very large part of the show is just ripped from past Gundam shows.

Gundam Seed is the only Gundam series that interests me.
The animation is great.
The opening and ending theme are great.
And the plot is the deepest plot I've seen for any Gundam series.

Yea but I was personally left a little disappointed by the ending in episode 50, but since there's a second season supposed to be out next year and a bit of a side story coming out here soon I guess I can deal. The genre of Gundam in general seems to be aimed towards kids above the age of 10 at least. Because a lot of the drama is just a little out of reach for some of the younger ages. Though I'm not saying kids under the age of 10 don't watch Gundam. There's always a projected audience but just because you're not in that projected audience doesn't mean you can't watch and like a show. I'm 18 myself and I love Gundam Seed. Out of the Gundam shows I've seen (which is, granted, not many) its my favorite so far.

Don't consider G Gundam a typical Gundam series. It is highly deviant from your standard Gundam series. All of the Gundam series except G Gundam (a more simplistic series with some of the same premisis, just a lot more simplistic) have a fairly in depth story line, where, yes there are giant robots fighting, but the Gundam universe looks at more the human aspect of warfare. Such as, the fear of dying or failiure, deciding what that individual is fighting for, and other aspects of the human psyche.
