After waiting in line at midnight to get Burning Crusade and playing for 10 hours. I got to thinking. (After seeing what a female Blood Elf could look like) about Deedlet from Record of Lodoss Wars, then I thought that what anime would make a good MMO?
Yu-Gi-Oh! I think it would be cool to make an MMO out of this. Create you character with either an incredibally large coat or really big hair, create your deck. And the deck thing works like this, You start off with only the 1st 2 series that ever came out, and instead of gaining levels, you get a new series of cards and then you constantly make your deck from these. (there are a lot of series in this game, including GX) And if you join in game tournaments, you get money for clothes or food and what not. Naturally you can change your look all the timeif you have money, and this is assuming you live by yourself in an easily affordable place. Also of course battles are duels which are played like a normal Yu-Go-Oh! duel Pokemon Yes Pokemon. Same thing, create your trainer and choose what region you're going to start out in. (Hoen Region, or Ash's original region or Johto etc..) which will give you a different choice of beginning Pokemon to start off with and what kind of Pokemon you'll be able to start off catching. Now for the battle system, i've been cyclying through a few different things for this game but this one seems to stick: It'll be somewhat like .hack//G.U., when you find a Pokemon to battle or catch, you'll run up to it and and a barrier thing will pop up around you (A little bigger then what's in G.U. though) and the little animation that your character will do is throw out a Pokemon of your choice from a list that'll pop up along with the barrier (remember you can only have siz at a time). Now you will be playing as the Pokemon, NOT the trainer, You run around and can attack like a normal attack by right clicking on them and with the F1-F4 keys, you do their Pokemon attacks. (because apparently Pokemon can only use 4 attacks) and the number keys are all items that your trainer will throw on you to heal or increase attack or defense type thing for the battle. That's it for mine, although I have a few more but those would basically be shows like Slayers, Record of Lodoss Wars and Bastard (That's already created though) and be like WoW or everquest. |

I would like to see Gantz being made into an MMO. It could work quite nicely with the mission/quest style of play from Guild Wars. However, I would ask the developers to please make it somewhat following the story of the manga, cause the anime was awful.
The Third, Black Lagoon, S Strain, and Trigun might also work, but those are kind of doubtful. |

Hunter X Hunter come on, it's like saying .Hack or Ragnarok Online deserve MMORPGs! I've been wanting to play Greed Island since I saw it. You'd make a character, determine his Nen type, fight monsters and other Hunters, learn new Nen attacks, collect an use magic cards, etc. Hella fun.
I'd also enjoy a game based on either Naruto or Bleach, but those aren't quite as ready-made and the liscenses would be trickier. |

Bleh. I wasn't a big fan of HXH past the first OAV. Just something about the new artwork and the whole MMORPG concept didn't sit well with me. And some of those character designs felt very cheesy. The one guy that helped Gon in GI Final felt like a tanned version of Dabura, and the villain made me think he was a Korean on steroids. I don't know, the whole transition just felt weird spoiler[ and why the heck take out Leorio and Kurapica only to replace them with Biscuit? She was kind of fun, and even cute at some points, but then she turned into Chyna |

I think Zatch Bell could make a good mmo. You could create both a momato(sure its spelled wrong) and their human partner. You could chose the power the momato has.

I think where all forgetting the anime bassed on an MMO, .hack//Sign. But to actully make it an MMO in the real world, I think that they would need to do a lot of work. Based on the anime The World is huge, and you can do almost anything there. Not to mention the character designs that you could make. I think that they would also need to improve VR technology first, since in the anime all the characters wear VR helmets. Anyway thats the series I think they should turn into an MMO.

No one forgot. I just deleted the posts that mentioned it because all they said was ".hack//SIGN" and that's it. |

That and, I just said that there is no point in saying it, because that was a given.
I agree on that part 100%. When the artwork changed dramatically, the show lost the feel it had with the some-what older animation. And the MMO thing was cool, but when they focused on it and focused on the rules too much it kinda went down. However there were some parts that I liked in it. Like when Biscuit became spoiler[Chyna] and when spoiler[Killua went to take his test and just beat them all up and became a Hunter in no time.] But it shocked me how Gon could think of the way to meet his father. That was smart. OH and I was laughing when spoiler[Gon lost his arms], I thought it was funny and if he stayed that way, that would've been awesome. Kicking ass handicap style. |

I think a Air Gear MMO could work. You could make your own character, customize air treck and form your own team and then start building up your own territory. And then when you get to a certain skill level you could challenge and become one of the kings or the king of your own road, and get your own catholic school girl tuner. Though it would have to be based on the manga sense it is more fleshed out.

I'm not a big fan of the franchise, but I think Naruto could make a decent MMO. The plot is pretty loose, and enough people create their own ninja characters for fanfiction anyway. You've also got room for 'classes', teams, weapon upgrades, player-on-player battles, custom outfits, the whole deal.
Of course, going along those lines, Shaman King would make a fantastic MMO. The story is built so that any number of characters could be fit into it, and there's everything from team fighting to a possible quest/mission system. However, a huge drawback would be not having as much flexibility when creating/choosing a spirit partner, because they'd probably have to be anthropomorphic (like, people floating around) and I'm getting a headache just thinking about how much graphic and modeling work that would require. Not to mention the fact that a good number of people would want animal spirits; I speak from experience because my RP spirit is an angelfish. Naruto would also probably work better just because it's a huge thing already. Another anime I can see (in its essentials) as an MMO is Angelic Layer....That might actually be pretty cool. |

There was a .hack MMO it was a game called fragment for PS2 it was bad from what I gather. There was only the three characters on your screen and that was it. Not only that but the game was so simple that it dulled to play, it wasn't a game like WoW. That said I would like to see a faithful version of .hack sometime down the line, when we have the technology to make it happen. Where Virtual Display are actually a controller that we can use, along with voice changers and such. I am actually looking forward to a TC for Kenshin. Hopefully it will be out sometime in the future. From what I've seen each character have their own movesets along with different physical traits to match their character from the anime. Otherwise I would like to see something around the lines of Cowboy Bebop. Where you create your own bounty hunter travel the worlds and capture bounties....buy noodles, buy a space ship, buy a pet dog.....join a bounty group I just think that it would be real fun. |

Right, I was thinking pretty much the same thing. You start by picking things like sex, village, element, and style specialty (taijutsu, genjutsu, etc), and then the overall look of the character (which might possibly age as you level, not sure how that would work). You get a home in the residential district, go on missions for your village, do training missions to learn new jutsu, gain ranks every 10-20 levels, build fame/infamy, even have a Chuunin Exam every six game months to truly advance in the game. Maybe even opportunities to become a missing nin or join Orochimaru depending on your disposition. Seems like a game like that would be full of opportunities with very little limit, there's a lot of ground to cover leaving plenty of room for expansions.
We're getting there, the technology is starting to catch up. Emerje |
