Off the top of my head, there's AnimeVillage.com, ToonamiJetstream.com, and AdultSwimFix.com .

PMing it is still against the rules, and the administration can check PMs being sent and received on ANN. Good job getting yourself in big trouble.

Only illegal downloads. If it's something legit like iTunes, then it's perfectly all right.

Yeah, I was under the impression that private messages were... well, private. Guess it's one of those rules listed in "fine print"...j/k, but you guys should probably make that clearer... I'm pretty sure it'd cut down on a lot of the "illegal PMing"... just a suggestion though.

The fact that the people who own this webspace would have access to everything that goes on within it ought to be a given. It'd be pretty ridiculous for ANN's owners not to be able to monitor every aspect of the website for potentially harmful or illegal activity, and they shouldn't have to point it out.
Administrators can, and if tipped off that anything suspicious is going on, will check what you send via PMs. I'd've thought that was a bit more obvious.

Umm, I think Zac pointed that out already quite thoroughly. No need to beat it over the poor girl's head so much.

Well, since the PM's go through a person's e-mail address, I assumed that it just redirected the comment to the user name's e-mail address... Obviously, I was wrong to assume so, I guess it's more like a "myspace" message... fair enough, makes sense....
As for the second paragraph, of course, I wasn't objecting to that . My point is just that it's an all too popular tendency for humans to attempt to bend the rules; can't post illegal downloading sites, fine, I'll just PM it to the person. (Note, this is just an example, you can check my PMs if it'll make you feel any better.) If you guys explicitly stated that it was illegal to do so, then there would be a (widely known) rule that prevented that loophole... and less people would attempt to.
Granted, it would be morally wrong to do so, but wasn't that rule put in place to show that ANN did not support fansubs/illegal downloads? I thought you people (individually) maintained your neutrality (or at the very least, your own views), as stated in another thread... what difference does it make so long as ANN's reputation is not dragged down?
Or is this penalty the result of someone pissed off that a person would so blatantly attempt to cheat the system? Not that that anger is unwarranted, just that I think you should know that sometimes people really are oblivious to the fact that somethings are a rule by logic, and unless a rule is explicitly stated, they won't know that their committing a transgression. As I believe the case is here. I mean seriously ask yourselves who would post something like that on a public forum? Could it possibly be someone who believed they weren't doing anything wrong?

I'm pretty sure this isn't the first time this kind of thing has happened, people got into an uproar about PM's being 'private' and all that but, as is stated, this board is the property of someone else so if anything those PM's are the 'private' property of those who own the damned thing.
They can't realistically stop you sending this info as there are innumerable other channels to do it through, such as regular e-mail, but that can stop you dong it on their property when it contradicts their own related rules.

I'm not arguing that PM's should be private...
I'm merely saying that this rule should be more visible to the average forum browser; so as to not solicit another occurrence like the one in this very thread. You should try to prevent the transgressions you can, right? Or would you have me believe that the mods enjoy busting people for incidents that could be prevented by something as simple as adding a couple more words to the "DO NOT ASK FOR DOWNLOADS" sticky?

To be honest I've always just thought that rule was enforced to protect ANN's reputation. I'm not really fussed about what happened because I understand why. Lol, it would've been much easier if I just posted the website here since I'm still not really sure if it is illegal because now that I think about it YouTube.com isn't illegal just because it has loads of licenced and unlicenced anime uploaded for free. Oh well
Betting back on topic I have a couple of other streaming Anime and Television website but I'm not sure if they're legit, how do I find out? And would it be better for me to just post the website rather than creating more drama about what's legal or not and what's Okay to post here?
