This is because retailers and release staff are not as anal as Encyclopedists. Retailer websites (Amazon, TRSI, Buy.com, B&N, etc.) sometimes do not list titles "as is" according to the title given by licensors. In the case of Gundam titles, some retailers put them under letter "G" but some put them under letter "M" for "Mobile Suit". Release staffs usually follow how retailers list their titles, so sometimes start with "G" and sometimes with "M", but when titles are sorted in your My Release list they were sorted according to their respective locations in the Encyclopedia, where most Gundam titles (with few exceptions like Turn A) start with "Mobile Suit". This inconsistency can be fixed -- manually, one by one. It's a kinda boring job and isn't time critical either (not exactly an error), so its priority is way behind other more important tasks waiting to be completed first.... |

Sure, I get that. If I could fix it myself, I would. I know it's a lot to ask to keep on top of every volume name. If there was even a feature where a user could submit a Name Change Request, an admin could look it over, see that the old title was inferior, and approve it. It would only take a couple clicks on the part of the admin. You'd let the user do the rest of the work (looking up a volume's name, etc.). Of course, building that system would take time.... |

No, it's much more than that. Trust me. |

You might have misunderstood me, dormcat. I was not totally clear.
I was describing a hypothetical system whereby the user could generate a request where he picks a volume name, like 'Gundam MS08', and fills in a New Name field with 'Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team'. Then the request shows up for an admin, who can then simply hit "Accept" to put the change through. The user would do all the typing. But as I acknowledged, building such a system would be time-consuming, so I wasn't really suggesting such a thing be done. You don't have to take my posts so seriously

Please? Should I send this request directly to someone? |

Unfortunately, this is (most probably) not going to happen until the long-promised upgrade of the Encyclopedia. Use the search function, and look up "Filipino" or "Chinese" for past discussions of this problem. E.g. here. |

I don't know if this is even the right thread to ask about this, and I have a feeling I've asked this question before, but- What are the criteria for including non-anime works in the database? Here's an example I was wondering about.
I just added non-anime staff credits to the writer and illustrators for Newtype Magazine's series of text stories based on the anime Gasaraki, who are also part of the original creative staff of the anime. (Links to the creators for reference) person#26 person#2580 person#3111 |

I saw on the front page about the Speed Racer movie and it got me wondering... When it comes out it will be an american movie about a japanese anime. Would this movie be added to the Encyclopedia because it is based on an anime or not because it is american made?

My previous post might be all off. I thought that I saw the Sailor Moon live action series in the encyclopedia and was drawing my conclusion off of that. On that, however, I was wondering if there is a Live Action section based on animes and mangas? Sorry for the double post in advance.

The links to the page were deliberately removed, so it's best to bookmark it: animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?list=not_anime_but_related |

I was wondering if a if ANN would consider adding a title that is korean animation, not japanese? I am thinking of My Beautiful Girl Mari which I loved and yet it isn't listed anywhere here.
I think that manwha and not just manga makes the lists here, so this should be ok as well? |

Thank you! I feel mighty stupid now, however, this is what I saw what I looked in alphabetical order, so it isn't like I didn't look. Thank you for troubling yourself to find it for me.
Now, so I don't feel this stupid again, where is this listed if not in this list? Muumin (TV) My Air Raid Shelter (special) My Blow Jober (OAV) My Brother's Wife (OAV) My Daddy Longlegs (TV) My Dear CoCo (TV) My Dear Marie (OAV) |

Because it's not in the "regular" alphabetical list for anime. For non-Japanese titles that related to anime/manga and/or mentioned in the front page news, you can 1) use the search engine located at upper right corner, 2) go through the news, press releases, reviews, or releases that mentioned it (used to be green links in news/reviews, but right now the green link function is under restoration), or 3) through the non-anime list, although the link was taken down by our chief encyclopedist in order to discourage some borderline spamming, so I wouldn't mention it here, but you can either look for it among posts by some veteran users or figure it out yourself (it's rather easy). |

Could you add Finnish to the language box?
