It got good sales. It could have sold a lot less you know, you are mistaking it for another kind of series... |

It has actually sold VERY well. The only shows that usually sell over 10k per volume are ones aimed at otaku audiences. If it can keep above the 5k mark for each volume, then it's job done. |

Those are some mediocre sales for both Kill la Kill and KyousoGiga... I was expecting at least 15k or more...

Kind of expected. Kill la Kill hasn't been living up to the hype. The wow factor went away after a few eps, still a good series. Beyond the Boundary bombing made me smirk though. heh
|

KnK selling that much should be a bomb, considering it's KyoAni. Kill la Kill sold well, but not anime-saving or anime-changing well. Though if you look at the combined discs, things seem slightly better, like KnK selling 5,394 and Kill la Kill selling 8,327. Though, Infinite Stratos doing is 26,601.

KnK sold upper poorly/lower okay - disappointing levels for most any production, let alone at KyoAni's normal budgets.

No it's not. "Vol 1" of IS2 was actually originally intended to be an OVA disc release. Then they just tacked episode 1 (which half of it was just a CM for the OVA) onto it. That's why vol 2 had a massive drop of 10k sales (~16k). |

If you have to look at the combined disk tally, aren't they doing even worse? I'm not surprised; Kill La Kill is definitely a "moment" series. I too could get the home release so I can easily freeze a frame to take in all the artistry or I can just watch the animators do it themselves. As for Beyond the Boundary, I can say I liked Nichijou though I wouldn't want to buy it in two episode chunks either. I'll try that again. As for Beyond the Boundary, I've watched Haruhji Suzumiya's Endless Eight series of episodes more than once but I wouldn't want to buy separate volumes of it. Third times the charm. As for Beyond the Boundary, showing the last few episodes didn't do them any favors. |
