Did you know that in japan they had actual animes on Mario? well it's true, unlike the american Mario cartoons from Dic Entertainment, there was an anime movie based on super mario bros 1 called Super Mario Bros:The great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach, there was also an OVA based on Super Mario Bros 3 where they did they're own take on Classic Fairytales,
here are the links. http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/mania/smbtgmtrpp.shtml http://www.themushroomkingdom.net/mania/anime_amada.shtml |

I saw clips of that Mario anime a while back, and I thought it was horrible. -_-; Bowser was idiotic and had an awful voice, and he looked just plain ugly. Peach sounded way too squeaky but I thought her character design was okay, it looked better than her design in the American cartoon.
But I had no idea that there was anime based on the Super Mario Bros. 3 game, I'd like to see some of it. |

There WAS an actual Mario anime?? I shouldnt be surprised, but I am. Of course I was only familiar with the American Mario cartoons, as I'm sure any 20-something nerd would be.

I first heard about this in the Protoculture Addicts published "Anime: A Guide to Japanese Animation (1958-1986)" . I've been looking all over for this but never had any luck finding it. I'm not sure if they ever put it out on LD or VHS back in the day. I saw that clip myself and I actually would love to see this. It looks really neat. I wonder if anyone'd ever get smart and release this out here...

I think it would be nice to see if they can do something now, they might be surprised at how well it might be recieved if somebody makes it the right way.

I didn't even know there was an American cartoon. And I have a question. Is Nintendo made by Japanese or Chinese people? It's a little off topic, but oh well. And sorry if it does go off topic. But I always thought that Americans make XBOX, Japanese make Playstation, and Chinese make Nintendo. |

Seriously? Chinese make Nintendo? Do you read/play any of the games on Nintendo. Nintendo is very much a Japanese company, try using wikipedia or google.
What there going to make a Luigi Mansion anime. |

I just checked, and didn't find anything. I tried to CTRL+F it, but all I found was "______Marionette____". |

It wasn't a movie (although there is also a live-action movie), it was a TV series that featured the American cartoon with live-action segments in-between. I used to watch it when I was little. It's now available on DVD (which I have). I don't know where you got Warner Bros. from though, as neither the cartoons (all three of them) or movie was produced by them... |

you know, I would'nt mind seeing a new actual Mario Tv series from japan with story-arcs based on the recent Mario games like Paper Mario or Mario and Luigi, I mean hey, if Sonic can get an Anime Tv series(AKA: Sonic X) why not Mario?
I mean F-Zero.Megaman, Bomberman,Ganbare Goemon and Kirby previously had Anime series's as well, but not Mario. as for the American Mario cartoons, there were 3 american cartoons produced by Dic Entertainment Super Mario Bros Super Show. which aired on weekday syndication in 1989 which included live action segments with Captain Lou Albano and Danny Wells dressed like Mario and Luigi before the cartoon starts, and each episode was a parody of a popular movie and on fridays they would air a Zelda episode Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3, which aired on NBC saturday mornings in 1990 and shared an hour time slot with Season 2 of Captain N: the gamemaster( Which that show is now also out on DVD), the SMB3 cartoon was more accurate to the games than SMBSS,and this cartoon was the first appearance of the 7 Koopa kids. The New Super Mario World which aired in 1991 on NBC Saturday mornings sharing a 30 min timeslot with season 3 episodes of Captain N the gamemaster. (However the season 3 episodes were not included on the Captain N dvd dued to the reduced Cheaper Animation), this cartoon featured Yoshi who spoked the human language in a babyish 3rd person speach and featured some caveboy named Oogtar. |

There were some videos up on youtube ages ago.
I belive the Mario movie from 1986 is very rare that it still fetches up to $140 for an old used vhs off Yahoo Japan Auction.
