I always feel that pageants and what not never really attracts the most beautiful people to take part. The winner is the winner i guess, but they always feel short of what you'd expect from the 'best'.

One never knows what was behind these kids being selected. While I would like to hope that they were selected for their good looks and not because a parent had certain connections. Or something else equally as sinister.

I was thinking the same thing, but I have a feeling money is the word when it comes to these contests. I remember watching a CNN video 2 days ago about a half-Japanese half-African American winning a Miss Universe Japan and I was told even though she won, she faced a lot of criticism because she wasn't 100% Japanese. |

I've heard pageants in other countries that have a crapload of corruption, even to the point that sleeping with one of the judges may lead to a favorable outcome. |

Wait a minute....
Are their school uniforms really that short IRL? In my country school uniforms have to be 5 inches below the knee. Other than that, everyone looks good to me but then I am not a judge |

Decide for yourself - here's a typical gaggle of schoolgirls from behind:

Depends on the school and area. Some schools do enforce a strict at/below-the-knee rule, whereas others are more lax and can be as short as you see. Same with hair-dyeing; some allow it, some enforce a natural (black) only policy. From my experience, though, the skirts on girls in Tokyo seem to be much shorter than what I saw when I lived outside of Tokyo. |

That is always the risk with trying to generate hype about something. Overshoot the mark and all you're left with is people saying, "That's it?" |

Mion Abe is the best for me.
@enurtsol: I am not fan of those shapeless white shirts, not truly girly thing. Can not "judge" anything from it. @Spotlesseden: yes, the first guy is cool and cute, but that hairdo is pain/impossible to make yourself. |
