Seconded so hard.
Except I haven't played AC 4 or 5, but as hilariously bad as the story for AC6 was, I really, really appreciated the way the game PLAYED. (I.E. No changing gameplay modes every goddamned 30 seconds.)

A war started by an unknown perpetrator and placing the blame on Osea or Eurusia and the OSS Kestrel returning.
Getting some AC5 Unsung War vibe.

Yeah there were tons of reference to AC4/5 in the video, the Kestrel 2 and many shoot of crater (either the meteor from 4 or the nuke from 5/zero), the main theater will be Osea (AC5). What I'm really [expletive] hype for though is that it seems like there some sort of pilot/plane neurointerface, which has callback to electrosphere.

This is probably my most anticipated game coming out soon (well, eventually) and I'm so glad it's returning to it's strangereal roots.
This is also one of the games I really want to get a PSVR for...maybe since it was delayed I'll have one by the time it comes out lol.

Ace Combat 4/5/Zero are really the games they should taking notes from for this...
So far, it sounds like they're picking the storylines or threads from Ace 5... Zero was sort of a prequel to 5 but has aircraft/weapons selection in-between 4 and 5. I hope they go more with the system used in Zero... I frankly didn't like the plane level-up system they used in 5 and half those planes were useless! Better to give you the option of the best models to choose from of a plane with weapons selection like Ace 4 -- that's basically how they handled the planes in Ace Zero.
All the Teen Fighters (F-14, -15, 16, and -18) will probably be there. They're all fairly popular machines. (I'm kind of hoping the F/A-18C is still an opinion... I don't like the Super Hornet that much.) The EF2000 and Rafale will definitely be there along with the F-22 which has virtually been the Ace Combat flagship fighter since Ace 4.
Hopefully, we'll see more favorites -- Mirage 2000, possibly the Tornado IDS/GR4, and maybe some exotic subsonic stuff like the A-4 although I think Ace tends to favor supersonic planes. I'm indifferent to the F-35 and would rather see the F-4 return again which is almost a given. Might be nice to see older European fighters besides the MiG-21. Perhaps the Mirage III (which is NOT the same as the Mirage 2000) or even the English Electric Lightning.
F-104... That's an interesting choice for a new plane to fly if the FMV isn't misleading. It'll accelerate like crazy but will turn like crap! Even the F-4 is a better dogfighter than that plane!
Besides returning free flight mode, I kind of wish they would pick up the alternate dogfight wave mode (the Mobius One game) that was in Ace 5. That was a real challenge fighting through waves of planes in a tournament fashion. You found out real quickly which were the best fighters in the game! (Hint: F-22 or F-15/SMTD. I think the Su-35 worked out well, too, in addition to the X-02 Wyvern. Everything else? You can get through with a few other planes, others you will definitely die at maybe half through the fight if you're lucky!)
Oh, and goes without saying... They have to have support for a decent Hotas Flight Stick on day one like what was released for Ace 5. This really isn't a game that plays well with a pad. A Hotas Stick is really much better, more authentic, and gets easier to use over time than a pad. A pad never gives you great cruise control because of the stupid buttons. You need a throttle! They never really released an official Ace flight stick for PS3 and what got released for PS3 was decent but not technically compatible out of the box with flight sims... You sort of had to program the thing and I understand that was a bit cumbersome.
It would be best just to bundle the flight stick with copies of the game if they can get under $200... I don't think people are going to pay $250 for the game plus the fightstick... I know game fans well enough. They HATE paying out the nose for peripherals. Bunch of the fightstick/fighting games passed on buying peripherals for this generation and upgraded their controllers (at least on the PS side) with replacement PCBs once reliable PCBs or converters were available. I'm sure that's affected the peripheral market (and indeed, Mad Catz went out of business for speculating on the Rock Band license of all things and making people VERY unhappy with controllers $50 more than the competition!).
I'm not surprised PS VR hasn't sold that well... It's doing Sega CD numbers but that's a drop in the bucket. One has to wonder if Sony will make back the development it cost to develop that hardware. I would never buy it myself and I don't even have a PS4 now!

As long as we get an A-10 I'm happy, I'll probably play the whole game with that one plane. Nothing like buzzing ground targets and peppering them with bullets

Kestrel II, baby! Gonna be so angry if we play as an Erusean and have to sink her. Someone else who was analyzing the trailer online said that since the term warship was mentioned prior to Kestrel II but was separate from the carriers that the news anchor in his statement in the trailer, she might not be a carrier but instead some sort of missile cruiser or possible battleship or something like that.
Anyway, looks like Osea is up to it's usual shady shit despite being the ostensible protagonist nation, what with how badly they hit Farbanti. And ISAF looks like they got rolled by Erusea again, 3rd Usean Continental War is a go.
Glad this is coming out for Steam, I might actually be able to play this!
