If you mean there is no way for Westerners to participate, that's not correct. White Rabbit Express is a proxy buying service that I and Migiddo use and we were able to get in on this. The service is incredibly easy to use and is fully on-line based. You send them the info on what you want, in this case the link to the Campfire page and the description such as "Planetarian Course D support", pay with credit card, they buy the item (or service) for you and ship it to you when it arrives at their Japanese office. Their customer support person is completely fluent in English and they feed back if they have questions and give a receipt for confirmation. Not too late, give it a try!

I don't know if they still do it, but I've used Goody Japan (another deputy service like White Rabbit Express) for this sort of thing before.
