I guess this is where we should talk about the movie in general, since it's now out in the states...? Have only seen the sub, not the dub.

Overall, in terms of story structure, it's extremely similar to the first movie, but also significantly better. Same setup of "everyone's on an island, villains show up to do villain stuff, big giant battle ensues," but this time no one gets left out of the epic battling (except the teachers, I guess) and the villain felt more like a part of the established MHA world. And boy, do they battle. About two-thirds of the movie is one ginormous fight, with a short intermission. But because they made use of the whole cast this time, it never feels excessive or repetitive.

In the first phase of the megafight, all the female characters were conspicuously left doing support tasks, not actually fighting. Hard to excuse that when literally everyone in 1-A is involved. Even the female villain got almost no screentime in this part. They have more active roles later on, but it seemed like the writers forgot to use them at first. Probably still better in this regard than the other movie, though that's not saying much.

I thought the new twists on the lore were good enough to be interesting, without seeming like they're need-to-know details for the main story (which they presumably aren't, given how these side stories work). spoiler[The artifical-All-For-One made for a good villain and seemed like it was probably a one-off due to his unique compatibility, and the temporary transfer of One For All was explicitly a "miracle" that probably can't happen again. (And Bakugo conveniently forgot about it.) The one problem is that this villain really shows how underutilized All For One himself was. If a guy with less than 10 Quirks--and a disease rapidly destroying his body--is this powerful, someone with countless stolen powers and no known limitations ought to be a living god. But he went down because he tried to out-punch the punching king. Maybe the big bad's true weakness was total lack of creativity.]

I have to disagree with this review. I definitely prefer Two Heroes to Heroes Rising.

The first movie was more focused, and fits into canon.

The second is like a really good animated fanfic. More interested in telling its own story than actually fitting into the story.

But Visor Guy showed up in the background, which amused me to no end.

I found this movie to be quite interesting and if it was canon it would lay the groundwork for a few personal theories of mine.

One: spoiler[All might did in fact have a quirk but he never realized it until after he got one for all, it'd be his muscle form because both midoria and bakugo emit/radiate energy when using one for all, something all might never did. It'd explain why he instinctively was able to use one for all without going through as much training as midoria needs to. Well i say theory of mine but i really just saw it on Film theory and support it]

Two:spoiler[ Deku does have a quirk or had a quirk taken from him (via the good 'doctor') which is the ability to temporarily boost the abilities of his allies by 'lending' them one-for-all. This one I say because Deku always mentions in his narration that he became the worlds greatest hero and ever since all might retired the 'trend' has been hero teams opposed to individual heroes. Thus the most powerful hero in this new era shouldn't be a single individual like All might or Endeavour was, or what Bakugo aspires to be but a hero who is powerful on his own AND empowers other heroes depending on the situation. Deku is going to be the greatest Hero who can also support and boost other heroes. The rise of hero teams with deku at the helm]

Other than that it was a great movie on all fronts, storytelling, animation, everything.
The only thing that really bothered me was the final part of the fight, for some reason they decided to use slow emotional music while all hell was breaking loose.
It was a very unsettling dissonance with the soundtrack not matching the action at all. I can't say it ruined the fight because it was very well done... but it was very very jarring.

The movie was great but I really don't understand how you can call the villain interesting. His "I want a world ruled by strength!" thing has been done a million times before and it's the kind of motivation you usually stick on your first arc throwaway antagonist.
