My question is, does Akira actually say anything this season, or is she still "mute aside from superfluous noises"?

That's your question? And no she doesn't say anything...that's one of the cornerstones of the show.

Yes, it is. And honestly, it's kind of disappointing. This may sound stupid coming from someone who has no plans to watch the show (and only would on the basis of "JYB voices the MC in the dub" which is a whole other kind of stupid) but having Akira say something to Haruo at the very end - one sentence, even a single word - would have been pretty cool.

Honestly spoiler[Instead of a Dash adaptation, which I do want eventually, I want another season to explore what happens AFTER that last scene. It just feels like too perfect of a setup for them not to capitalize on it.]

If there were to be a continuation of Haruo and Akira's relationship, I think a movie would serve well. One central plot, no Hidaka around to muddle things.

Thanks for this column --- I went straight from finishing the column to bingeing the entire second season. This is the sweetest thing I've seen since Toradora.

And High Score Girl DASH is now on my list.

Re: Akira speaks.

Does anyone have any guesses what we see her saying at the end of the ED in every episode? Perhaps "Unknown world map", since her lip-flaps approximately match those words spoken by Etsuko Yakushimaru in the lyrics at the same time.

While I was never a big action gamer (I preferred rpgs) I can totally empathize with the characters in this show. It's completely spot on.
