So, they charge more money than before, make more profits than before, and still 10,000 are out of a job.

The execs need the cash for their latest vacation homes. Those homes aren't going to pay for themselves! |

Bezos also announced he'll be donating more money to charity... before the layoffs were declared |

I suppose those were jobs acquired during the peak of the pandemy and are not needed anymore and since there is a, best case scenario, deacceleration in the economy and, worst case scenario, a recession occasioned by the increment on the rates then firings are in order.
Well, as a famous economist once said: "The stimuli packages of the present are the recessions of the future". |

Great question. I was about to ask the same. There isn't even a "Amazon streams anime blah blah blah" in the article itself. I mean...I guess if you hadn't heard this news it is good for people to learn it? Whatever. Just confused. |

Amazon is one of the larger and is probably the largest retailer of manga, light novels and anime home releases in North America. They get first consideration when supplies are limited. Basically if they don't have it, it is probably no longer in print (though some other stores may have it in back stock). |

Isn't rightstufanime the biggest all related to anime, manga, LN and stuff? Often amazon doesn't have items in stock or listed at all unlike rightstufanime. I still think this amazon news has no value on this website. |

Keep in mind that any time you see a billionaire donating to charity, it's just a PR move. They donate money to charities they own, which allows them to still control the money, get a tax writeoff, and look good while they still have more money than any of us could possibly imagine. |

Even if the Right Stuf is the biggest, that doesn't mean that Amazon is some small time distributor. The one thing that the Right Stuf doesn't do, is digital. Prime Video anime and Kindle digital light novels and manga, are the digital things that Amazon provides. The things Amazon does, does effect our fan community. Like Amazon banning digital versions of light novels and manga. "Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro" manga volume 7 is still banned digitally from Amazon's Kindle services. |

I'm pretty sure he doesn't own Dolly Parton https://www.cnbc.com/2022/11/16/dolly-parton-receives-100-million-dollar-award-from-jeff-bezos.html Yeah it is write off, but don't American left DEMAND than anyone making more than $150k a year donate all their money to charity? Had anyone bothered to read why, it is not to give millionaires more homes, but US economy is in recession and looking to continue to do so for foreseeable future. I wish people understood basic economics and not scream, "rich people" Consumer demand is down, inflation is up, and people are not spending money. Amazon not the only one laying off in mass either. |

Which is still irrelevant because they're not letting the people go that are responsible for the warehouses/shipping part of the business. This is just more tech jobs getting cut. |
