I feel like it's important to mention that, while Ōyama was indeed the voice of Monokuma for the original Danganronpa 2 game, she actually retired from that role in 2016, well before her death in 2024.
From 2016 until her death in 2024, the veteran voice actress Tarako played the role of Monokuma. She voiced Monokuma in both the Danganronpa 3 anime and the Danganronpa V3 game.
So I think it is more accurate to say that Mizuta is replacing the late Tarako, who replaced the late Ōyama.

I had no idea that Monokuma was voiced by two people and coincidentally both passed away in 2024. If I were superstitious I wouldn't want to voice Monokuma

Yes but it's no longer 2024, people alive today can't die in 2024 any more, at least time machines don't exist yet
