Voicing both the Digimon and their human! Neat!

So happy for Koyori, it's one of her dreams to voice a character on an anime. It finally came true.

Quite long shot but it would be funny if they also had one of Hololive EN girls to voice Yume/Tinkermon in the english dub.

Why not a regular voice actress, instead of stunt-casting?

The problem is Anime is a very 'nerd centric' space, and these kind of stunt castings apparently work in these spaces... We've already seen a handful of influencers being cast in anime and now with the success of Markiplier's film, I imagine we'll see allot more influencers and internet celebrities in entertainment spaces going forward...

Another problem in doing this is that it can snowball into what happened with traditional voice actors in the West since the 1990s (at least with animated movies): cast famous actors or other celebrities for marketing power rather than actual ability.

When this happens, it is another missed opportunity for someone who has been training hard for years at this craft that is instead given to someone who a lot of the time is famous for something else.

Considering Japan's culture of seiyuu being celebrities more than in the West, I don't think it will happen as fast as it did in Western media, but it is still a slippery slope.

What's not to understand? If the Japanese version casts a Hololive JP member, why not use a Hololive EN member for the dub?

It's doubtful it'll happen, but it'd be a nice touch if they went for it.

I wouldn't really call it as stunt-casting, some of these VTubers both JP and EN are aspiring Voice Actors and had VA training, part of their goals as a VTuber is to land a VA role in an anime. If you look at their past/previous/other life, some had already VA roles on some indie games and some sort and are using VTubing to build up their portfolios.

Have you watched the English dub of Digimon Beatbreak? The voice cast is limited compared to most Digimon dubs. This might change when the dub gets to the TACTICS arc.

So, just because they did it in the Japanese side, it should also be done in the West side?

If the Hololive member has some VA training, then that's fine.

But doing it just because the Japanese did it................

Yeah, I've been enjoying it. It's a really nice dub!
There's some multi-casting, but that isn't too unusual for a Studiopolis simulcast. I'm also expecting the cast to expand once the Five Stars and Tactics appear.

Never said "should", just that it'd be nice. I'm not expecting it to happen, and it probably won't.
That said, why do you seem so against the idea? If the Japanese version is already doing it, why not let the dub do the same thing? Do you have a problem with the Japanese version's decision to cast Koyori? Confused

I feel this is less 'stunt' casting because Koyori is basically an anime girl and likes anime. It's not like they got Jack Black or Chris Pratt to voice a character. Didn't Demon Slayer's dub do that recently? Channing Tatum?

I mean a lot of Vtubers here in the west already double as VA's. I think Hololive EN's Nerissa Ravencroft for example has a professional VA background under her regular name.

Japan has enough work to go around - it's fine for them

OTOH, it's more limited opportunities in the US
