I love FLASHY Anime!
I'm talking about things like G-Gundam, or Dragon Ball Z! Each move has a name and they yell it out at the top of their lungs before executing it! sugoi...
Bleach is kinda like that, it was ok...

I want to watch some more anime like that. Super FLASHY and everything! WHAT COULD BE COOLER THAN THAT?!

Anyways, I want some more anime like that. I know most of the mainstream/popular anime out there so nevermind those. Does anyone know of any SUPER FLASHY anime out there I can get?

this sounds different;

so your asking for Hot-blooded over the top anime

GaoGaiGar is a good way to go with a such crazy weapons as Pliers and Hammers with a good mix of screaming.

New Getter Robo was fun and short with lots of "flashiness" involved.

Never heard of GaoGaiGar, I'll check that out! Thanks!

Yeah I loved New Getter Robo! That's just what I was talking about! Although there are a real lot of those Super FLASHY Giant Robo animes out there that I'm aware of and I've seen a few of them. I was kind of looking for something Super FLASHY outside of that genre.

Kenshin yells out his moves before he executes them, not really flashy though.

Yeah Rurouni Kenshin is cool, it's not really what I'm looking for here though. And like I said I know about all the mainstream anime everyone knows about.

Hellsing's OVA series is very flashy, but the characters don't yell out moves (very much), since it's not a Shonen series.

I'm not sure if that would classify as mainstream.

Afro Samurai is like that too.

I also wanted to start a discussion on such kinds of anime not just a recomendation thread, sorry I should have made that clearer.

Anyone every play Marvel vs. Capcom 2? There's this one character in that, I think his name is Jin. He attacks with a Giant Robot and yells a lot. That's the kind of style I'm talking about. (Anyone know what he's from?)

Hmmm, I'm having a hard time describing this sort of character... Domou from G Gundam is pretty much the perfect example, although I know there could be better characters. You know, they're really serious all the time and they scream a lot! And they have CooooooL one liners!

Oh yeah and I've heard of Afro Samurai and it sounds cool. Anyone play the video game Way of the Samurai? There's a character in that game who is, uhm, an Afro Samurai. Where did the legend of an "Afro Samurai" originally come ffrom as I see it as a recurring theme in the genre of Samurai.

you see the thing is Hot blooded Characters are rather rare outside Fighting games and Super Robot shows.

and sometimes when in the other genres... things don't turn out so well.

if you haven't already make sure you check out Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (and if you have and liked it you may want to look up Gunbuster (maybe not so flashy but good and needed viewing for Diebuster) and Diebuster).

I'm afraid all of my good suggestions are Super Robot shows but given some time I may be able to think up a few shows without mechs involved.

I don't know of much that's more flashy and over-the-top than s-CRY-ed. Just be sure you watch it dubbed; I wouldn't want to put anyone through it without the benefit of the gloriously hammed-up script. Also, Straight Cougar is maybe the most stylish character in the history of anything. There's much fun to be had with this one. Razz

The control set-up in Gravion required the pilots to call out the attack names to activate them. Laughing

I find this to be the most useless and tasteless genre of anime next to Harem and Hentai, and thanks to shows like DBZ and Naruto and others, gives people the completely wrong idea of what anime can be. IMO, it's only for people with short attention spans (which is amazing, since most of them go on for 100+ episodes).

I'm sorry you don't like this genre but tasteless? that's a really odd choice of words.

I think there is something to be said for simplicity and mindless fun.

now if you want to debate the qualitiies and shortcomings of hot blooded or "flashy" anime. please feel free to elabotate
