Ever since I got my iPhone 3G one of the things I've been fervently trying to do is find a way to read my scanlations on it.
A lot of you guys may be content with reading them while hunched over towards your computer screen but no matter what I have to read my comics on something that's in my hands. If I can't get a comic in physical form that means a portable device. So far I've just been using my PSP since there exists an App that makes reading scans on the PSP very easy. Since my iPhone has taken over pretty much every computer function except storage and word processing for me, why not comics too? There Are Serious Roadblocks: 1. The iPhone has a great native image viewer, but iTunes automatically compresses images when you synch them into an iPhone, making pages unreadable. A future update to change this would pretty much solve the whole issue. 2. There are some apps allowing you to get around this but you gotta jailbreak your iPhone which I'm not willing to do. 3. There are some other apps that make use of the Safari image and PDF viewer in the iPhone, but to use these apps you have to have your own web server to upload the scans to. 4. There are legit comic apps on the iPhone but most of them are just for buying and reading comics that are solid through their networks. But Finally... 5. I did find an app called "Pull Lists" made specifically for organizing cbr files iTunes style and wirelessly transferring them to your iPhone which reads them through a $2.99 app. Sadly, I can't check it out now because the Windows version of the computer app is far from stable. I hear the Mac version works just fine though so I was wondering if anyone who used a Mac and was interested in this had tried it. If not, has anyone else found a way? |

Sorry, but scanlations are kinda' taboo around here. Not so much the content, but just the fact of "how to do" things with 'em (fansubs as well). So to prevent such discussion, I'm afraid I'll have to lock this thread.
