I was browsing ebay to see if I could get a cheap copy of volume 4, and I noticed a copy of volume 1 going for $30. I double-checked Amazon and it was listed as 'out of stock'. Did Tokyopop stop printing the series?

It looks like they might have. Chapters.ca (Canadian site) also has volume 1 listed as unavailable to order.

There's only one novel (it's not a light novel though I think Tokyopop have referred to it as such) and it's still in print.

Pick it up while you still can - it's vastly superior to the manga.

I bought the manga series on ebay for $30 a couple of months ago and wasn't sure on the novel. Now I will make sure to track it down. I will have to get the Full Metal Panic novels as well too. Thanks for the heads up.

$30 for Vol. 1? Seriously??

That's rather surprising to hear. I (finally) have all eight volumes, so aside from getting the novel, I'm set in terms of Welcome to the NHK. In fact,

Dammit, and I thought I finally had some rare manga. They should get on finishing the series that they dropped with no explanation or promise to ever finish. I bought 9 volumes of Life from them for nothing, and I know there's other people out there who feel the same.

Well if it is a first edition then it should still be better than a rerelease. Also discussed in this thread, Tokyopop's quality has really declined. The paper is newprint thin. So the first release will always have a better quality. Just something on the brighter side! Wink

Hooray! I wanted to check this series out for a while now, but I haven't been able to find or order a copy.
