Hey all,
I'm doing some research for a paper and I need to find some good academic/critical interpretations of Berserk. Not to knock anyone who's reviewed it or talked about it on message boards, but my professors require sources with PhD's or other comparable credo--print publication or academic journals. So if anyone knows of any such sources on Berserk anime or manga, please tell me! Thanks! Kel |

To the best of my knowledge, no academic papers on Berserk have been published or presented in English. I don't have my copies of either Anime Explosion! or Anime from Akira to Mononoke nearby, but if you can get to them, flip through the index; it's entirely possible one or both of them mention Berserk to some degree (although I don't remember either discussing it extensively, as in, chapter-length).
On the other hand, if your paper begins with a solid theoretical discussion of anime in general (and, modern fantasy in general) and then extrapolates to the specific case of Berserk, I can't see that being a problem. |
