CD Japan has a listing for the Blu Ray release of Lain, and it seems it will include the English language track! Hopefully it will also include the English subtitles, but the current listing says it does not. |

I'm glad I don't pay those prices for anime. I think you can get Lain(vols 1-4) on dvd for about 40 bucks on ebay......I wish the same could be said for Haibane Renmei

It's features sounds like a bootleg but it appears to be legit. Lower the price to $40 and I would get it. So, our fellow overseas bodies have resorted to reverse import again, eh?

I would like to have this BD, but I could never afford it at this price. From what I remember of the series, I think it would look great in a BD format. Under $50 and I could think about it purchasing it...

For reference, currently, there's no such thing as bootleg Blu-ray in the same sense as there is for DVDs. Presumably it's just a matter of time, but at the moment, you can take it for granted that BD releases are legit. (Not to mention CDJapan is the English website side of Neowing, a major Japanese retailer.) Also, all or almost all Japanese-market anime BDs are region free rather than region A, so that isn't an indicator.
You mean the audio track? Yeah it happens occasionally with stuff that was released in English on DVD previously, like Utawarerumono, Full Metal Panic, Pat Labor. There's a thread on mania/AoD about starting up a master list of those: http://www.mania.com/aodvb/showthread.php?t=96544 Apparently http://asianblurayguide.com/ can be used to search for Japanese release BDs with English subtitles and/or audio. |

Unless the Japanese are appealing to their otaku that enjoy English dubs (I don't know how much of them there is, however, some of them may even enjoy the dub better than their own), I don't know why they are reverese importing.
