I've just seen the first episode.
I never seen so much breasts in a few minutes. But despite that, the animation by Toei Animation is VERY 60s and 70s (not to mentioned some obscure references of Lupin III); it was almost like watching an Austin Powers movie. I haven't seen the original and any other reincarnations, but it's safe to say that GAINAX's Hideaki Anno made a pretty damn good tribute.

just got down watching it as well.
Granted its been like what 8 years or so(back in jr high/high school irc) since I last saw anything cutey honey but from what I remember this is pretty much a spot on retelling with just updated animation and more zanyness. I really like it they even kept the Opening song the same! its such a great catchy tune gets stuck in your head.... "honey flash" man i need to break out my vcr and dust off my cutey honey tapes if I can find em. Some of the jokes had me laughing like crazyspoiler[ Penis Man getting arrested then the other guy "Oh penis man is in trouble transform" Balls man has arrived"] one of those crazy anime moments. |

Where did you see it?
Is there anyway to find some type of network here that can allow you to get access to Japanese PPV? I'm curious to see it. I want to see the older ones too in their entirety. I've only seen a few but never to the end. Yeah, leave it to Gainax to push the envelope a "New Cutey Honey' series. I figured that it was going to be a crazy "fanservice" fest. 
The old one was trying to push that but not when you got child viewers during that time. Of course Go Nagai is smiling his usual innocent smile. Like he always does. It's hard to believe that this "cherub-faced" man is the father of some of the craziest sex comedies and creepy horror flicks. I remember awhile bakc in an interview when 'Hanape Bazooka' and 'Shin Cutey Honey' were made that he was happy to see the improvement in animation technology. Now he could do what he wanted. After years of neglecting 'Honey' only to let it finally be released again as pure "shoujo" show 'Cutey Honey F', 'Cutey Honey' finally gets to go back to the crazy roots that makes it popular. With added benefits thanks to Hideaki Anno. I just hope it's not too zany. FLCL was zany enough. |

It's "fan service" alright, but it's the way "fan service" ought to be, where you don't feel guilty about enjoying the jiggle factor because the parts that are jiggling are attached to a pretty-but-tough young woman who will kick the bad guy's butt (right after showing hers to the audience).
This series should hopefully restore at least some semi-respectability to the general concept of "fan service", an idea which has become too intertwined over the past half-decade or so with those creepy, often borderline-pedophilic, harem shows full of sexual-fantasy type girls with painstakingly idealized character designs and flat cookie cutter personalities who are all in love with the main character. (Yes, yes, I know, but at least the Tenchi Muyo girls have powers.) |

Thats what always made cutey honey so damn enjoyable to me its so overthe top funny its not "whoops I walked on on so and so in the shower" fan service. she uses her fanservice as part of her powers its really funny and it fits. |
