Not really. But I'm chancing that it will grab some moderator's attention. My question is about Ah! My Goddess or Oh! My Goddess, however you prefer to say it. I heard that they were finally going to release a new series after like, 10-odd years. I want to know if they're going to follow the incredibly long manga, or come up with an entirely different storyline? And I need to know if Kikuko Inoue will be playing Belldandy, because using anyone else would be a crime! xD Thanks.

It will be continuing from the OAV, so it could be any mixture of filler or comic material.

I was about to say the same thing.

You're going to get everyone's attention, regardless of the title.

For what purpose? To egg them on and get you banned for real? You broke a rule and got called on it, suck it up. Leave your little backhanded feud with the mods to PMs if anything (do we care, do we care?). Honestly...

Anyway, the Ah! My Goddess TV series is set to take place after the OVA, and will follow several of the stories featured in the manga. If successful, director Aida has stated he would like to animate the entire manga series.

No, I actually want to hear from them. And it seems that you do care, since you chose to reply. Thanks for caring Anime smile Hmm. The entire manga series, eh? Wow. That's going to be loooong.

Since no one has mentioned it yet...here's some info in the Encyclopedia, but not much.

To all repliers of this thread: please watch the subject line.

I'm kind of hoping they start over from the beginning since the OVA series, while beautifully-animated and enjoyable on its own merits, had characters that were much less developed than in the manga, and the introductions of Urd and Skuld came too quickly and weren't much at all similar to the manga. I'd love to see a new anime continuity that follows the manga almost 100% (perhaps skipping over some of the early filler stuff like the otaku story), but I know what works on paper doesn't always work on the screen, especially in terms of pacing, and most of the changes between the manga and the existing anime are small "don't be such a fanboy" details in regards to the backgrounds of the characters and their living situation, like exactly how they came to be living at the temple, just I didn't care much for how, in episode 5 of the OVA series, the writers felt that they had to add a twist regarding the history of one of the characters that most certainly was not in the manga and which actually kind of cheapens this character's motivations as to a decision this character made in the first episode. (Sorry for the vagueness, but I don't care for using spoiler text, especially for an OVA series that is now over a decade old.)

At least we can be sure that this will be one series that, if successful, will go well past 26 episodes, since 99% of the source material has yet to be animated.

I agree with Tenchi. It would be great if they could just forget the OVA and follow the manga, but I don't think that will happen.

I think that they might be able to pull off integrating the OVA with a full series, but they would need to do a bit of tweaking. The back story between Keiichi and Belldandy can be ignored by the series, because after all Belldandy is the only one that remembers what happens.

What would be more interesting would be were would they pick up the manga - IIRC the OVA is supposed to be equlivient to roughly the first three TBP of the manga (Japanese version).

Please note that no one has actually seen this yet, despite the ratings given. That just means that 10 people didn't know the difference between the OVA and the TV versions. Kind of like the first Lupin III series having tons of ratings even though they should really be for the second series.

What?! When I added the link there was no ratings yet (the system would not show ratings unless no less than 10 ratings were given). This shows how careless people can be... Sad Evil or Very Mad

OT: Richard Feynman mentioned in his book that one member of California Board of Education gave ratings to a textbook (to be used in elementary schools) NOT YET FINISHED PRINTING before the deadline. The Board member evaluated the textbook with its cover only.

Maybe ANN should have a rating system preventing unaired entries to be marked as "seen" and rated. Rolling Eyes

This is off-topic, but it's worth responding to. Just because a book has not finished its 'official' print one (the printing that goes into wide-spread distribution) doesn't not mean that there are not copies of the book that cannot be reviewed. Most textbooks have at least one printing that is for the proof readers, and other technical reviewers; and it is not unusual for Board of Education members to get a copy of that printing. So it is possible to give ratings on a textbook before the final printing, however, you generally shouldn't because things do change between the proof printing and the final printing.
