I am unsure of what to make of Ireneo. At moments I can believe that he is simply a horny noble who looks young for his age yet at others he fits the evil mastermind mold rather well. His timing and reaction to the assassination attempt was sus as can be. Given that they mentioned agressive bandits several times I assume next week will have Maria and possible some other members of her family deal with them. That painting/drawing was something. |

With how thick the show laid it on this episode, it'd probably be the funniest joke of the series if absolutely nothing happened on the journey home.
Yeah, normally I'd say he's a bit too obvious to be the real antagonist, but like our heroine this show has really zero interest in subtlety, so who knows! He's a sleazebag either way of course... there really is no legitimate excuse for hiding in the bushes to watch schoolgirls. Enjoying Maria's interactions with Rosalia. The "tsundere villainess" trope always risks drifting into witless shrieking, but so far it's landing for me. You just knew even before we saw it that her picture would look like a 5 year old drew it, only for Maria to top that with something like that looked like it might have come from the hand of Edvard Munch. |

I loved the bit for Maria of holding her little brother on her shoulder, not only is it adorable, but goes against gender norms.

Yup, that went about as chaotic as I expected things to go. Those poor bandits never really stood a chance though it is a shame that they got away. That bloody seeming hanky might set off a big event unless the prince is able to correctly identify the stains (so, probably not). The missing girl is likely to be a thing for later on. |

I continue to be surprised with how much I am enjoying this show. At least maybe I keep having my expectations fall from thinking of a show I have been disappointed before, and the title has some weird connotations in my head, but then it is just fun. I enjoy the personality of her, along with her chaperones happening to be super muscly guys that on a similar wavelength to her start tossing her into the air.
It throws in what seems a bit at first like random bandits, but really don't look the part, and Maria is more concerned with them getting the help they need and warning them that they could have gotten hurt. And then lampshades with super stereotypical bandits. The red stained handkerchief is probably not going to go down great right away. |

I appreciate that both the prince and Raimondo had the calm of mind to not immediately panic and assume things based upon that dirty handkerchief. That did not stop Renato from immediately heading out though. The Annovazzi family is great, a warm and loving family where everyone is supportive. I also like that one of the sisters married a prince from their country and he is just chilling with the family. |

Amongst a really rather long list of infuriating commonly uttered anime phrases is "I wanted to be treated like a girl"..especially in narratives where that implies objectification and misogyny. And in fairness, this setting's misogyny is pretty mild, consisting primarily of the idea that getting married is a girl's main and really only purpose in life. Still, Mimi is absolutely fine the way she is, and should totally shrug off any pressure to conform to her society's idea of what femininity is. Lucky for her, the prince thinks so too.
Also, all the boys that didn't understand the attractiveness of a woman in pants and knee high boots are blind fools. Still, the Annovazzi family are a pretty fun bunch of oddballs, and Mimi's relationship with her little brother is very sweet. And it was pretty funny for the very obviously foreshadowed ominously stained handkerchief to go absolutely nowhere because the aid went "yeah, sending them to the palace with an easily misinterpretable item totally sounds like something she'd do, I'd better get that checked." |

Amen! I actually winced when she said she wanted to be treated like a girl. While they were showing us all the fun things she's able to and gets to do, while all the other girls (who apparently do see the attractiveness of a woman in pants and knee high boots!) seem to be limited to demurely carrying their school bags identically and greeting each other appropriately. Probably why I didn't much enjoy Moonlit Dusk... At least she's not hampered by her frilly dresses and is still having fun. On the whole, so am I. Prince will leap at any excuse to go running after her, huh.  His meeting her fam should be a treat. And I too enjoyed seeing how laid back local crown prince was.

If there was still any doubt regarding Maria and Renato belonging together then the latter pulling off his own number 38 puts an end to it. I was not sure what I was expecting but him reacting like that was not it. It was also a great episode for Maria going wild since she put that knuckleduster to great use. |

As the goon was running towards him I kinda figured he would bust out some fighting prowess, but unveiling his own '38' was a hilarious way to do that.
And yeah, these two really are peas in a pod. Despite our initial introduction to Renato as aloof and distant, he's actually every bit the impulsive big-hearted goof that she is. He just does a marginally better job of hiding it. Shame the show kinda spoiled itself with the knuckleduster - we obviously all knew it was coming eventually, but it had to be "yep this is the episode!" right in the open when they could have landed the reveal as a much better punchline. |

Yeah, I was thinking that too. She could've just slipped them on on the fly and if they really thought it necessary (which I don't think it was), she could've done her little 4th wall-breaking educational pop-up once she brought the smackdown.
I really just can't with her dark-haired bodyguard's outfit. It looks like his vest is decorated with the outline of a woman's torso or some variety of sex toy. I say "some variety" because it's never drawn the same way twice. Couldn't he just wear a coat like the redhead? Little bro's escort service was too cute. He had just the right amount of little kid energy at being praised without spilling over into obnoxious cutsieness (which kids often do, I'm just pleased he showed some restraint).

I appreciate the secret date since it provided some much needed relaxing fun for Renato and Mimi to enjoy together. The former really is not the aloof and distant prince he seemed at the start, he was almost giddy in just having fun (though his ''disguise'' sucks). The ending bit was rather romantic with Mimi making clear that she has no doubts, which makes sense seeing the effort she has put in thus far. The plan to use the crops from the village to produce drugs was a surprise. |

That was a satisfying episode, I am glad that they adressed the side couple. They were both being quite stubborn while pining for the other person (it was obvious to all involved). It took some intervention from Mimi to set things in motion though maybe they would have reached the same end without anyone else butting in eventually. |

I love that Mimi has a lot of friends/allies that have her back. That includes tsundere noble Rosalia who talks a mean game but is actually very supportive. It seems like not everyone is so supportive though, given the end there is a salty noble out to get some vengeance for some reason. |
