Indeed! Thank you for providing that information. Your post confirms my feeling that Division 2 is actually a platoon. It just makes more sense.

@Blood-

Actually it has almost too few people to make up a platoon. However, these are not ground pounders. If you think of them as the equivalent to a tank platoon it works out well. A Patlabor is basically a one man tank.

But there are 11 ratings categories. So it confuses me when people say they rate things x/10.
I dunno if I'm misunderstanding something here but if you do like Errinundra and think of Worst ever as 0/10 (I do too), then it works out just fine. The Encyclopedia ratings here seem to work on a 0 to 10 rating scale (presumably, since we'll probably never see an Encyclopedia entry with an overall rating below 1 I can't say for sure if the rating can go below 1) so it makes sense for people to think in terms of x/10.
10 - Masterpiece
9 - Excellent
8 - Very Good
7 - Good
6 - Decent
5 - So-so
4 - Not really good
3 - Weak
2 - Bad
1 - Awful
0 - Worst ever
It took me some years to come up with the following rubric:
11-7 "good"
6 "neutral"
5-1 "bad"
Then I created further subdivisions:
9 "middle of good" -- this is where I automatically start rating.
3 "middle of bad" -- for me, this is where I start when I am basically considering the material to be irredeemable.

However, looking at The Apothecary Diaries I see that Very Good = 8, which would make Excellent = 9 and Masterpiece = 10. Huh.

I strongly recommend The Apothecary Diaries manga, and if you are so inclined the light novel version. They provide additional details and more time with your favorite lead character.
Since there are only two LN volumes, I think that I'll get them somewhere on Black Friday.

Amazon has the first 11 volumes available in Kindle format. They offer a free app you can use to read Kindle books on your PC. The Kindle version is rather cheaper to buy, about half price.

This title is from J-Novel so presumably it is available in other electronic formats.

After reading several volumes of the manga version of Apothecary Diaries, this was the title that forced me to try the electronic version. It is not like having the actual book but it is better than nothing.

An article on a website run by Sunrise and Bandai about Gundam-themed plastic model kits says that in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team one Earth Federation mobile suit platoon is composed of three mobile suits and one vehicle which supports the platoon's mobile suits.
So it seems that when anime film-makers make a platoon which is composed of (to borrow a term from the Super Robot Wars video games) 'real robots' appear in their anime, they tend to model the 'real robot' platoon after tank platoons in the real world and provide a few real robots to the platoon.

I based my suggestion on a review of the organization notes Shirow put at the end of the second Dominion volume (subtitled Conflict one No more noise). There he shows three tanks as a platoon. I also noted that in some of the notes about Appleseed that he referred to hard suits as being equilvant to tanks.

Thank you for the explanation. So, what you thought about tanks was related to manga by Shirow Masamune.
As you have said, the 'Dominion Conflict 1' manga tankōbon has an organisational chart of the tank unit.
But it seems that in the chart a unit which has 3 tanks is '分隊' (squad) and 小隊 (platoon) has 9 tanks plus the platoon commander's tank. One 小隊 (platoon) is composed of 3 分隊 (squads).
In a scene, Ozaki Leona commands a unit which has 3 tanks, and in the scene she says that the unit is 第1分隊 (the 1st squad).
In the real world, in the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force, it seems that one tank platton is not divided into squads, though.
In the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Department, one platoon of 機動隊 (the Riot Police Unit, the Mobile Police Unit) is divided into 3 squads, and one squad is composed of the squad leader plus 2 or 3 police officers. Thus the 'squad leader's tank plus two tanks' formation in Shirow Masamune' Dominion Conflict manga may be modelled upon real-life Japanese Riot Police Units' 'the squad leader plus two policemen' formation.

Yes, I realized that with only two labors it could be called a unit or squad but that leaves them without enough squads to make a full platoon. I've noticed in the past that police tend to compress the organizational chart as they have significantly less people than the military.

Trying to identify a series and having a hard time of it:

It was, iirc, a somewhat romantic drama series centered around a group of friends in their late teens/early 20's. Themes of drifting through life/existential ennui.

It was either an early 2000's anime/novel series that had a remake series in the late 2010's(similar to and around the same time the most recent Boogiepop Phantom series came out), or was a retro series that got a review here around that time. I'm not sure which, but I remember checking it out based on episode/series reviews I had seen here.

I feel like it was the former case because I seem to recall changes they had to make for the series to feel more modern kind of affected how the story worked overall(an example would be something like "characters missed a date in the original but in the modern setting mobile phones would make that impossible").

Ring any bells?

Hi,

Trying to recal a sci-fi anime from late 1980s and early 1990s where an enemy force puts every person on a planet to sleeep in suspended animation, literally suspended in the air. A few survivors with the royal family escape and search for a way to revive everyone. They make it back to the planet and almost get everyone awake but only for a short time and have to escape and everyone returns back to sleep. The art style is very similar to Reign the Conqueror and Record of the Lodoss War.

Hi, i'm trying to find two old Anime music videos,

1. The first is a old Pokemon music video with the song 'My Way' by Limp Bizket set to Pokemon 3: The Movie Spell of the Unknown.

2. The second is a AMV of Pet Shop of Horrors set to the band Skillet's song 'Forsaken'.

3. The third is 'Angel Cop' set to Story of the Year's song 'Until the Day Die'.

Thank you.
