Answers to this sort of question can be somewhat negative, to the best of my understanding.
Though I don't have any personal experience to share regarding the production of graphic novels, you might want to see if you can find insight from The Gallery column. Reading how the various artists featured there started their careers may be of some help.

The best way to do this is learn to animate! Hell our own Tim Henderson completed a 20 minute animation as part of his final year at university and apparently it was tough, but not impossible.

At the moment the best thing you and your friends can do is improve your drawing skills and start looking at various ways of completing animation. There's plenty of information already out there on the topic, from traditional to flash.

Good Luck!

I think thats good advice.

To be honest, i am really wishing to spend alot of my spare time doing just an animation, but to be good, make it the best you can. You really have to learn the programs, to draw and make drawing/motion flow!

How can you impact a viewer if it's just flat and dull... try filming or taking photos of your scenes. It's a long process building up a good little anime.
