At first, watchiing this movie, I thought that it was (and when will it be released by Sentai?), but the more that I think about it, the more that I think that this is an adult movie that just happens to have main characters that are teenagers.
What do you think? |

This movie releases tomorrow (yay!) and I agree, I don't think it's aimed at children specifically at all, but none of Mokoto Shinkai's other works were either. I don't think it excludes children from watching it, but it's probably not something young children would find nearly as engrossing as I did. It has a maturity about it that would bore children/tweens I think
I loved this movie getting to watch it, I found it imaginative in a way I haven't seen in a long time in many ways, so wonderful to watch, so exciting! Really some of his best character designs I have seen from Shinkai imo, without losing the wonderful detail of the scenes, but I have to say, it felt different too from what I have seen. I can't say it didn't feel as crisp as his others shows, but it felt...warmer somehow. Rich details everywhere but the feel of it reminded me of Miyazaki in so many ways, the color palette used, even the character designs. I have been looking forward to seeing this for awhile, I am a fangirl of his stuff, and this may be my new favorite of his shows thus far. I can't wait to get it! |
