I don't think you can. DirecTV usually has that huge schedule you can surf in, and over half the channels on there could be listed, but it doesn't mean you have them. Anyway, my point being that if you could get TV Tokyo or other foreign channels on DirecTV, it would have it listed.

I don't think you can get anything but bits of canned Japanese programming from DirecTV. However, I've have heard that you can get some Japanese channels in the US from other satellite systems. Maybe they're referring to something like this...

I have dish network and they have 1 Japan chanel but it's like $30 extra a month and from the discription it sounds like it's mostly sports and news.

When people talk about getting Japanese channels in the US, it's not DirecTV or Dish Network that they're talking about. It's another system that's similar to the old satellite systems of the 1980's where you had to point your dish toward a specific location to get a specific channel or set of channels. DirecTV and Dish Network don't work the same way; you can only get what they have decided to put on their own satellite. In the case of Japanese programming they don't offer very much. |

Actually, as far as rumor discussion on the net goes, it often is DirecTV they are referring to. This is because, a few years ago, they mulled around the option of adding in a large Japanese section along with their other international offerings. TV Tokyo was one of the stations that was to be added into this new offering, had it come to fruition. |
