Overall, I thought it was pretty bad. In the end, there wasn't much story behind it, or rather, the story didn't matter. The only thing that mattered was one guy's thirst for power and wanting to crush his rival all for no particular reason. If you look at my "My Anime" page, you'll find that I've put s-CRY-ed in a custom list called "The Crap Pile."

Also, claiming that your thread is the "official" thread for discussion on a particular topic doesn't make it any more important. If there was anyone to make an "official" thread, it would be an administrator, not you.

I thought it was a solid series. Elements of it were very moving and tragic, and it was chock full of action and humor as well. My favorite part of the series is that the major plot point is that Kazuma hits things with his fist. That's all there is to the guy, he hits things with his fist. I had mixed feelings about the ending though. I mean, spoiler[any of the last three episodes could have concluded the series (with perhaps a minute or two of the next ep added in). The last ep in particular was quite gratuitous, just a whole episode of pointless combat. My friend swears it was the best episode though. ]

same here i agree with your friend because in the last episode it shows just how much they would be willing to give just to prove that ones better than the other, and if your the type to get emotional watching a series your into then you will love it, and if your just a critic then its harder to see what the characters are feeling and seeing Anime smile

Extremely boring; and quite possibly the worst character development in anime history.

I enjoyed S-cry-eD. The last two series I watched before it were boring, and I was starting to think that I was through with anime. Enter S-cry-eD. Good action, diverse characters (if not deep), and a fast-paced story line. Im only up to episode 22, but so far, so good.

I guess the best thing about s-CRY-ed is that the majority of characters are likable.

They give you a lot of time to get to know many of the characters personally ... their connection to each other is an important part of the unfolding story. spoiler[The best moment in the series has to be when Kimishima dies in Episode 12. That one event not only drives Kazuma on his path of destruction from that point to the end of the series, but is also the point where Konomi finally snaps into the reality of her situation and the danger to come.]

The worst part is the last episode. spoiler[By Episode 25, Kazuma and Ryuho finally reach an uneasy truce and vow to protect the Lost Ground from the Mainland. Suddenly, without warning, they are at each other's throats in Episode 26. I was thinking like Mimori -- there was no sense to it at all, and senseless battles are a dime-a-dozen in many other animes (i.e. DragonBall) ]

So, overall I did enjoy it all the way until the end. I pretty much stop watching at Episode 25.

It was an excellent series, I bought it up a year or two ago. I really liked all the characters especially the secondary cast like Tachibana, Sherise, and Cougar. The action was cool, the storyline entertaining and dramatic, as well as humorous at points. The ending could use a little work but it wasn't too bad.

i liked it when i watched it couple years ago, but the dub is horrible. who the hell wrote the script? the only saving grace is that Cougar is a lot better in the dub than the japanese version.

I'm not sure. I haven't read it but to my knowledge the manga came first. I've also heard that it was pretty bad and very "villan of the week." So my guess would be that the creators of the anime wanted to get away from that formula.

I flipped through a copy of Vol 1 in the store while Christmas shopping, and the art looked like it was ripped straight out of Jojo's Bizzare Adventure. The fact that Alters are ridiculously similar to Stands makes the compairison even less favorable. Wink

Hm...s-CRY-ed was a bit of an odd bird for me. It wasn't all that groundbreaking or memorable, and in more than one place was outright cheesy with its attempts at moving character drama. And the dialogue often left more than a little to be desired, especially when about 90% of Kazuma's lines boiled down to "I'MA HIT THINGS REAL HARDLIKE WITH MA FIST!"

However, this show was still a lot of fun to talk about with friends the next day. I don't know why, because it wasn't really all that great, but it was way too much fun to stand around between classes and go on and on about this & that within the show. The characters we liked or disliked, the weird dialogue, the plot, hell, if anyone was listening to us, I probably would have sounded like a huge fan just from how I carried on. It was bizarre; the show itself was not much fun, but discussing it was.
