I was just wondering how many episodes for Bleach are planned. I know it says 59 on the page for it, but I was wondering if it was planned for another season or something of that nature.

Anywhere from 60 to several hundred. This takes a few things into account-

1. How much of the Manga is planned and released, though this isn't a surefire indication of any kind of length (Shaman King was finished before the Manga finished, whereas Dragonball continued into another series)

2. How long will it be popular for? In Bleach's case, it could very well run for another 1-7 years, if its justifiable.

I think right now anything you would hear would be pure speculation.

Apparently the series was originally supposed to be 52 episodes, but then was extended at least one more season.

It was never supposed to be originally 52 episodes, people just like to pretend they know everything and for a while when it looked like the manga might end after the current saga fans just rambled out 52. But there was never official word, just rumors from fans. I hope the anime does keep going though after the current saga, though I don't see how it couldn't given it's popularity over recent months.

The manga has another arc started up, and some of the footage in the latest OP contains reference to the new arc. I won't say too much, but it involves the living world. . . Shocked and Hollows Shocked Shocked [double shock!] Chances are, they'll finish up the current arc sometime in the 70s episodes, and then continue from there. However, there are completely unsubstantiated rumors that there might be some filler episodes; see this post for some discussion on this subject.[/url]

Yeah although DB threw that filler arc comment in there as a joke, it is one that may very well become true sadly. After the Naruto incident I'm a little worried what might happen in the Bleach world.

Naruto used to be in my top 3 favs and right now I haven't watched it in 2 1/2 months because I cannot handle what they have done to the series, flame me if you will but I find it degrading to the series as a whole and believe they should have just taken it off the air for 1/2 a year. Even if others don't think so the decrease of it's popularity can't be denied.

With any luck if Bleach does decide to do a filler arc they keep it with the same general feel as the rest of the series and don't rehash a plot with the same objectives several times in a kiddified boring version that seems like it just doesn't belong or go anywhere. Kind of like Naruto's spoiler[Jeraiya: Naruto, Sasuke has joined Orochimaru and we must stop the Akatsuki so I will need to train you for several years in which you must completely forget about Sasuke and become more powerful, now to help you do this let's go on a mission to find Sasuke several times which totally contradicts what I just said but since it's a filler arc we'll do it anyways and confuse the hell out of everyone while losing 1/4 of our fanbase!]

I found a schedule that would seem to say that there are at least 70 episodes planned for now.

Check the very bottom.

There are reports that after this arc they are going to put 22 filler episodes in the show. That way the manga can keep up.

Both Naruto and Bleach should proceed with the show around the summer of 2006.

I've only heard these things so don't blame me if there not true Wink

Don't belive what DB says in the openning theme when they post JOKES. I belive that what DB said was ment to be a joke, but alot of people took it literaly, if you have actual informantion from a trusted source please send a link.

In a very recent speech given by the producer and owner of Studio Pierrot (the studio that produces the Japanese Naruto anime in Japan) in Vienna he answered a lot of questions surrounding the series, perhaps surprised that so many people outside of Japan were so up to date with Naruto. When asked when the fillers would end he replied: "Naruto will grow in the series. This part... with grown-up Naruto will air Spring 2006 in Japan - there'll also be a new movie next summer. And we are currently working on a movie for Bleach". This means that when the seventh season of Naruto begins next week it will be solely dedicated to fillers, and at the beginning of season 8 (27 episodes from now) we should see the anime following in the mangas footsteps. With this news the earliest we will see this is April 2006, conveniently in time for Naruto's second movie to release on DVD.

Didn't find the link so I hope this is enough. I found it on an other forum were they were wondering the same thing Smile

Only time will tell.

I'll tell you this, I think your not giving Tite Kubo enough credit and lumping Bleach with another currently airing popular shounen series and assuming that there will be lots of filler episodes.

I really doubit that Bleach will end at episode 70 and I do see filler comming. You can tell when reading the manga that Tite Kubo is less than a 1/3 of the way through creating his Hollow King Arc.

Acctualy Bleach hasn't had many fillers yet which is suprising because the manga isn't that far ahead. But, assuming they do stop at episode 70, they will only have 11 episodes left to go, which wont leave room for a filler arc. I just hope that DB was kidding becuase I'd have to stop watching Bleach for a while just like Naruto (Fillers are horrible).

Naruto can stretch things out like no other show I have ever seen. I started noticing the time during the eps, and after you take out the opening, ending, review and preview, you only end up with about 18 minutes of new material per show, on average. That said, I was actually glad they broke off the main arc for a little while. The show was starting to feel like a triathlon- going on and on and on with the constant angst. I was glad to see some humor back in the latest eps.

[Activate joking mode]
What do you mean Bleach might start filler eps? They have been on a "raid" that's lasted 40 eps and counting!!! The last ep I saw, the main character had just finished taking off three days in the middle of the raid to train!!! The Greeks took less time to take Troy! By the time they get back in school, they'll be 30! (Never mind the fact that the guys are drawn like college linebackers rather than 15 and 16 yo.)
[Deactivate joking mode]

They are both great shows, but the producers are planning on their profits putting their kids through college.
