Is Black Cat a fighting manga/anime? I know the main charcter uses a gun and that is uncommon in fighting manga but that doesn't necessarily rule it out?

Um...since when are guns uncommon? Lots of characters use guns in what I would call "fighting anime/manga," such as Trigun or Cowboy Bebop.

It's not really a fighting series, it's more like a bounty hunter series.

Well, there's definitely a lot of action and adventure involved in this title, as well as a fair amount of drama and relationship-related elements. I wouldn't say that it follows the stereotypical fighting manga formula, although you will find elements from those types of stories thrown in from time to time.

The anime takes a number of different turns from the manga, and I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about the changes. What I saw in fansubbed format intrigued me enough to put it on my list of series to check out once it's available in the US, but as of right now I really prefer the manga.

Hmm..this kinda question has appeared once or twice here with the same kind of wording(action/fighting). Some people seem to be confused. Lets take something like Zatch Bell and Black Cat. They're both the same genre, shonen. But I think when people say fighting they mean something along the line of Zatch, or YuYu Hakusho, meaning the action is mainly in one on one fights. Black Cat isn't that type of "fighting" manga, but it does have action; fighting, but not necessarily a series of one on one fights one after the other(at least from what I've read and seen)

You ask this question everytime. What exactly do you mean by fighting? Fist fighting? One on One Fighting? Action/Fighting? It would help if you make yourself clear. We really need a general manga thread

Also it's a shonen jump title, so if you have read enough shonen jump title, you know what to expect.

One Piece is a shounen title but I wouldn't call it a "fighting" manga. It's more like an adventure than just a fight manga.

Also, has the Black Cat manga been licensed? I saw a few eps. of the anime and found it okay. Everyone says the manga is better though.

Yes, it has. The February issue of Shonen Jump had a 50-page preview, and the first volume comes out on March 7th. The preview is also available online at the Shonen Jump website (http://www.shonenjump.com/) in their downloads section.

I'm really impressed with the translation quality so far, and I hope that it continues at the same quality. The first volume will be in my possession as soon as I can possibly manage.

I read the preview at the website, thanks ShadrachAnki, but what I want to know is, is Black Cat a good series to buy? I heard it's like 20 vol. long and I don't want to waste my money on an only decent series.

Well, I tend to be biased toward the series...Train has been my avatar ever since I started reading it last year, and I was practically jumping for joy when I learned that it was being released in the US.

So I would say check it out. It's one of my favorite series.
