Question I have recently watched Elfen Lied after having watched Sakura Diaries , and was wondering if all anime in the "Comedy/Romance" genre is bittersweet ? Is there a series out there that actually has a decisive conclusion ? ( A little more conclusive than the ending of Evangelion , what is up with that ? ). Any suggestions ???

That's kind of a strange question you're asking there, because anyone who answers you is going to be giving away at least part of the ending making it sort of pointless to watch. (I know that's not how everyone feels about it, but I personally know people who do, and by just knowing the ending they're satified and feel there's no longer a reason to watch.)

Well, if you want an anime that falls in the romantic comedy genre that does end happily, I would suggest, and even though this feels weird since there's no way to know what I'm talking about whether or not you highlight it, meaning people won't know if what's under the tag is something they have or haven't seen, but I'm going to put spoiler tags around this just in case there are any people out there that fit the description above, spoiler[Please Teacher! and Please Twins!]. Both of those have a concise, happy ending. Note as well: OAV episodes are there just for kicks. Those are the two that come to mind first, although there are more.

Love Hina actually ends on a happy predictable note. However I don't know why you want happy ending animes instead of shocking eye splitting how could you endings. As I said they're just predictable dinsy channel bull so they don't disappoint fans, but to each his own I guess.

I thought the ending of spoiler[Chobits] was a happy ending. Of course you have to pick up the whole series to realize it.

I agree that spoiler tags should be added on the title because in a way it is giving away the ending.

...Hahaha..."Happy Ending"... I'm so immature.

Howls Moving Castle im sure if its a real rom com, but that ends on a very happy note. Where as things in the past from Hayao Miyazaki like spirited away ended on quite a sad and
unfulfilling note.

thanks

Well, out of the anime I have, I can tell you that spoiler[Samurai Champloo] has a happy ending. I say this since spoiler[nobody actually dies.]

Another one would be spoiler[Azumanga Daioh, they graduate and since it's a comedy, you can understand why nobody dies.]

I don't own very much anime where there's a happy ending. I love angsty anime, Anime smile + sweatdrop so yeah.

We kinda expect Love Hina and Azumanga Daioh to have a happy ending. Happiness, I think, is relative to the type of series your watching.
Take X for example. It could be considered happy because the spoiler[human Race doesn't get wiped out] and even the dead characters have fullfilled an important purpose in life.

Of "serious" anime, Haibane Renmei has a happy ending in that spoiler[Reki gets her day of flight.] Wolf's Rain is unusual in having a happy ending where spoiler[everybody dies, but the door to Paradise is opened and everyone is eventually reincarnated in the next world].

All the Best,

Nani?

One of the few romantic comedies out there which does have a decisive happy ending is Midori Days. The series does such a good job of wrapping itself up (despite some crap in its middle episodes) that it's well worth watching even if you suspect how it's going to turn out.

spoiler[I'd still call it bittersweet, though. Unfortunately, Darcia is obviously going to be reincarnated too, which means that they're going to have to go through the whole thing again - and again - unless and until they get a reset without Darcia.]

I definitely agree with Key about Midori Days...it has some happy/sad moments at the end, but it is wrapped up nicely. The problem with many of these drama/comedy/romance series is that they're based on manga that go on for a long time, Sakura Diaries in particular. That's also the deal with Love Hina, Fruits Basket, and the infamous case of His & Her Circumstances (disputes between manga author & animation studio caused the series to get cut off at 26 episodes). I wouldn't say that they're all "bittersweet," although many are. Since it's sort of a spoiler to list series here, I'll refrain from doing so...you just need to know what kind of series you're getting into when you make judgements about the ending. For instance, I don't think it's much of a spoiler to say that Texhnolyze, Evangelion, or Serial Experiments Lain have weird, confusing endings that aren't exactly "happy," because that's just the type of series they are. Sometimes, a "happy" ending is in the eye of the beholder; for instance, how you judge the ending of Kimi ga Nozomu Eien (still can't bring myself to call it "Rumbling Hearts" yet, but maybe when the DVDs come out...) will pretty much depend on which girl you like more.

[/spoiler].

Not to mention that was their destiny. So that could also be considered happy? Yeah...

I still don't think that (DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN X AND PLAN ON WATCHING IT) spoiler[Killing your best friend ] is a happy ending even if it was to save mankind. Even if it is "Destiny".

I'm not sure about the anime, but I've read the manga and spoiler[Marmalade Boy has a pretty happy ending. Although the events that happen right before the ending make you think that it's going to end up horribly, and the author even originally meant for it to have a sad ending, but she decided it'd be too mean Anime hyper]
