Yo! Has anyone seen Fruits Basket? I have the box set. I absolutely adored the series. I haven't read the manga, but because of that I'm fine with the fact that the series had stuff left out. I don't mind negative remarks about Fruits Basket. Please post them. I would like you to speak your mind. Tell me things that you didn't like about it. I'd like to know. Of course, all positive remarks are welcomed, too.

Fruits Basket is a great series due to the great characterization.
Ayame Sohma is possibly the funniest and most intriguing male character to date. It has a beautiful blend of comedy/romance/drama. In my top 5 easliy! You should also say WHY you like Fruits Basket Sayo-San. I'd love to know. |

hello azumangaman. i have to sy that i loved Fruits Basket because of the personalities of all the characters.
my favorite character would have to be Hatori. i just love the fact that even the most serious of people can really turn out to be the greatest. next i would have to say is my favorite is Tohru. i hated her at first because she was annoying (and still is), but then someone special to me past away and i began to relate with her. but really all the characters were amazing! |

Overall I really liked the series, however I didn't like the ending. It just fell flat for me.
Because of some other comments though I've started up on the Manga. If anything Tohru seems prettier in the Manga and less cutesy. Granted that's only after the first book. |

Fruits Basket is absolutely WONDERFUL! Great art, terrific drama with bits or actually lots of comedy, and excellent story line that'll make you cry or/and laugh. I think the ending was pretty well done. Think about it: The anime was being created while the manga was still being written.
The anime also encourages those who love Fruits Basket to read the manga to see what goes beyond episode 26. I mean, wouldn't you want to know how they break the curse -- if they break the curse -- or who winds up with whom? (bunch of interesting stuff going on and believe me... It gets darker and more serious, yet stays sweet.) Buying the manga is definitely worth it (even though Japan's practically on Volume 21 -- just one volume away from probably the final one -- and America's just coming out with 13 --> bit annoying, but hey at least it's being published -- unlike Elfen Lied  ). It even supports the talented manga-ka Natsuki Takaya -- the one who brought us this SUPER-DUPER FANTASTIC creation. Anyway, the anime was a big BRAVO! English voice actors were AMAZING! I would say the best cast in an anime yet! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT!! 
PS I think this is the first anime I've seen that has a bit of better art than the manga ... but the manga art is still good. ALSO, this is the anime that got me back into anime after practically FOUR YEARS! (I decided to take a break from Sailor Moon.. but really I was missing out on way better stuff over those past years.) |

i have to say, the Fruits Basket main story theme is good, but the artwork is starting to run downhill a little. I used to think Fruits Basket was awesome and i loved the characters ( is still do) but her drawings are sometimes... well they're not as good as they used to be, but that might be since she had surgery.
i love the drama and love but is it just me or is Tohru Honda a bit of an airhead? Yeah, she's confident and all but seriously, she might of lost a few too many brain cells to go tripping over that much stuff. It used to be cute, but practically every manga has a girl like that so it got lame fast. even though Fruits basket doesnt have the crazy draw it held for me as it used to, i still follow the story since the plot line is so interesting. |

i totaly agree with bebexsweetnezz because the animation was magnificent! now i've been whatching anime for a long time, but never before have i gotten so emotional. i liked the ending, too, i guess. it could have been better. although, i'm not the least bit dissopointed! i don't read the manga, but my friend has some and i looked through it. i, too, think that the art of other characters was better than the manga. but! but, you have to take into consideration that the show was in motion and the book is not. they prbably worked twice as hard to make it look just as/ or better than the manga.

ill give the animators credit for trying to create something while working against a deadline but the ending is just...crap...
that actually was no ending because it ended with Kyo, Yuki, Tohru, and Shigure visiting Akito. and that was it. what was the curse, and why is akito so pissed off? who did Tohru end up with? they had like no ending and even forgot to add in the horse and rooster as characters. |

I treat Fruits Basket as a happy story. I love happy stories. Sure sad things happened, but they were all in the past. The transition of sadness to happiness was really nice and made me feel good about it. My favorite part was then spoiler[they were playing the Fruits Basket game and someone finally called riceball.] That to me was quite special.

i agree with you Stupidman007, the transitions were very much well done.
now just to get off the conversation side of this, i have a question. 2 questons actually. 1.) who is your character(s) and why? 2.) what is your favorite aspect of the story line(can be from the anime and/ or the manga.)? now here's the test of the best. you cannot use spoiler tags. the big twist is to answer the question without giving away any spoiling info.(this is for the 2nd question)(this is optional) |

Well, I read the manga long before I ever watched the anime, so when I watched the anime it was somewhat of a let down and the voices didn't match to the characters to what I had imagined... at all.
However, as I continued the series I found that there were some hilarious new scenes they had added into the anime and the voices started to grow on me. The ending was extremely different from anything in the manga, so that was a little weird. My favourite character has always been ,and always will be Aya. (Ayame) He's so hilarious and, in real life, resembles me a lot.... 'cept I'm not a guy.  But, even beneath his odd exterior, Aya's a normal person and even cries about his mistakes with his little brother.
Now, by aspect do you mean idea or theme, or a part in the storyline. I assume you mean part because you ask not to use spoilers. But wanna check first

by aspect i mean anything. it can be a part,who made it, story line. anything. if you can't come up with that then you could do your least favorite aspect. of course it can be on anything.

The only way to find out what happens is to keep reading the manga. Many shocking secrets and surprises await!! More funny lines! And I don't know if this is a spoiler, but new characters!!
Please pm me if that last line is considered a spoiler and i will fix it. |
