Hey I'm new here. I stumbled on this place while looking for Gankutsuou stuff and found out that there was a manga.
I found some of the manga covers which look just as gorgeous as the anime and some of the inside art which looked great to so now I'm just wondering that since the show is done if they may release the manga over here.
However, this leads me into my question; has there been any news regarding a US release of the manga?

No, there has been no news of the Gankutsuou manga being licensed.
I believe the second volume just came out in Japan (I know there was just a new volume, I'm about 99% sure it was number 2), so it's still pretty early in it's run.

It's actually already been running for about a year. It's serialized in a monthly magazine (Afternoon), so depending on the length of its chapters the tanks can take anywhere from four months to nearly a year to come out.

So is it basically the same as the anime? Or are there any differences?..... so far between the 2 volumes.
It might be stupid question though but I figure I'd take a stab at it.

You know, good question. I don't have any idea at all. I know I read one girl's review of it and she liked it and said that in the manga they have little comical inserts. I am hoping that somehow they release it to the US but who really knows.

Personally I'm not exactly excited about reading it. The anime was handled suprisingly well and had a unique enough take on the original story to set itself apart (not to mention the incredible animation) from the classic novel. Adaptations of animes are rarely all that original, plus without the large staff to make decisions and the animation much of what made to anime great would likely be lost.

I dunno, see with me I think it'll be interesting since The Count of Monte Cristo was originally a book so to me it seems a bit true. However, that's just the way I think.
Now trying to find the manga right now is proving to be tough.
