I know all of you are going to whine about the price and that there is no dub available for this, but such is life and there is no M&E track available for Gunbuster, so dubbing would be impossible anyway.

Sold. I wish there was a dub, but with that shiny, shiny list of extras, I won't be crying about it.

Actually, the price is fine, and I could care less for a dub. All six episodes in one package, with the renewal footage and new subs, and most if not all the video extras fom the R2 (science episode, the three new clips, etc). Sounds good to me. I'm a reasonable fan though, definately not the norm. Wink

Um, can you people read? It said "No details about the audio tracks is currently available." Stop jumping the gun.

J-Syxx: I wonder if they'll use the Patlabor cast.

kusanagi: The price is lame. All they have to do is slap a "From the creator of Evangelion" sticker on it, and it'll pay for itself. But I guess they think it won't do much better than 3x3 Eyes.

I don't really care about the dub at all.

But I'm totally sold, even at this price.
With all those beautiful extras, Looks like Bandai Visual will have my $65

I sense a resurgence of....GUTS AND COURAGE (Gunbuster and GaoGaiGar) Very Happy

The price isn't that bad, really, and you should easily be able to get it for less than $50. I was expecting it to be pricy anyway, considering their Patlabor releases.

I'll definitely be getting this.

The masters for the audio have been unavailable since the beginning, so unless they go through the expense of making their OWN masters for it, there will be no dub. So nobody is jumping the gun, they just know the facts.

But the press release didn't mention the science episodes. So are the science episodes definitely in this release? Sad

What do you think those "new clips" are about?

I was also expecting my wallet to die from a massive hemmorhage for this one. Laughing

Wooo, it's about time. I've been waiting for this to be released to DVD for the longest time and now we have a release date. Man, I don't care about that price tag or the fact that it doesn't have a dubbed track. Knowing Bandai Visual, if they're related to Bandai Entertainment, I would expect a dubbed release since they first announced this on their website earlier this summer.

Most likely, they've been working on the dubbed track and want to save that information until right before its release. The extras are so cool, as well ... this will definately be on my shopping list.

Hardly. You're forgetting that not even the power of Evangelion can stand against most of today's anime fans' natural resistance to OLD ANIME.

Not to mention all those who refuse to buy it just because it doesn't have a stupid dub, and who wouldn't buy it even if BV went out and officially said that it just wasn't possible to do.

Anyway, massive yay, and I'm going to pre-order this as soon as it shows up.

...on the other hand, all of us who first saw Gunbuster back in the mid-90's or whatever - and there are *many of us* - are now out in our mid-20's and up, and gainfully employed...and paying sixty-five dollars for what is basically a collector's item absolutely bursting with nostalgia value...is *not* going to be much of an issue.

...for my part, I'm still not entirely clear on what Image has to do with any of this? Are they just the distributor?

i'm not sure i care much for the collectibility of it all. i'd go so far as to wish they'd straight port the vhs quality to dvd for the sake of purity and that's it. i don't like that there will be new subs (supervised by the orginal guys or not) much less god forbid dubs that'll ruin the nostalgia of it all.

Image handles pretty much all the production of BVUSA titles. BVUSA is a very small operation, they don't have any technical staff.

In addition to production Image also handles PR, Marketing, Sales & Distribution.
