Well, that's a first. Usually you turn these things into an anime adaptation not a live-action movie which could be a disappointment for some who want those cute character designs animated.

Wasn't there a movie announced years and years ago? Or was that another song?

I'd prefer horror anime based on Kagome Kagome or Dark Wood Circus instead

Nevertheless, Sakura no ame is a beautiful song and one of my favorite Vocaloid ballads

There was a stage play adapting the Vocaloid song "Senbonzakura" a few years ago.
