I really enjoyed this manga when I read it. I really liked all the like cultural details of daily life at the time that I would never even thought about how different it was. Really, a great read for any manga history buff.

I think this is the only book in English by Tatsumi I recommend to most people. But, a person probably has to have an interest in comics to read it. He did have amazing talent. Personally though I prefer the works of other gekiga artists. The fictional work I've read from him is angry to me. So very angry.
