Well that's because Japanese anime Bluray are usually much more costworthy than american releases. It's not that expensive compared to other series but compared to our prices, yes it's ridiculous.

That figure is cool as hell but $883 dollars just to get it is definitely out of my price range, Those Otaku in Japan sure are hardcore to put up with those prices.

I can only assume most Japanese end up needing to be much choosier about what they're collecting, with these prices. Like, this is my one favorite show ever kind of choosy.

They are. Why do you thing there's such a steep plunge in number of volumes sold beginning from the top selling series like Love Live to the absolute bottom dwellers like Mahou Senshou?... |

If I read the article correctly, the figure itself isn't any more expensive than other figures. But it was made for those who bought the entire series itself on DVD (or Bluray?), so... technically, you're paying even more than that, since you have to pay for the figure itself. On the flipside, you get a pretty damn awesome show "as a bonus".

This figure+blu-ray combo would've gotten me all hyped up to purchase the whole set if the cost isn't out of my power. Maybe I'll wait for the figure itself to be officially on sale. But if you are willing to pay for that, it's also pretty worth the money. (At least the figure looks high-quality and cool)
