They have been kind of crowbarring them into this OVA, despite them not having an actual part in the plot. But whatevs, it's fun to see these characters in this style animated.

Not really crowbarring them in when it's just adapting the events from the manga and low and behold you saw what they were up to before the events that brought everything down.

At least they're bringing in the good guy here. I'm still amazed that this Char guy has a fan club. From what I've read about him,he's not a great guy,Lala's opinion of him,notwithstanding. To me,this series with Char in the lead role,feels like making a movie or TV show trying to make a sympathetic version of Charles Manson,Ted Bundy,John Wayne Gacy,or Jeffrey Dahmer. It would rub a lot of people the wrong way and wouldn't really work. I'd rather watch the stuff with Amaro Ray and Fraw Bow any day rather than a genocidal creep as a lead character.
