Along the shore the cloud waves break,
The twin suns sink behind the lake,
The shadows lengthen
In Carcosa.
Strange is the night where black stars rise,
And strange moons circle through the skies,
But stranger still is
Lost Carcosa.
Songs that the Hyades shall sing,
Where flap the tatters of the King,
Must die unheard in
Dim Carcosa.
Song of my soul, my voice is dead,
Die thou, unsung, as tears unshed
Shall dry and die in
Lost Carcosa.
So, yeah, probably not as good of a fictional "doomed play" as that one.

I'm a little curious to see if this goes the way of the as-of-yet-unofficially-translated light novel, which started out equally confusing but generally wrapped up satisfactorily. In a strange twist, the original song provided even less context than the adaptations that followed, cutting out all mentions of a cursed screenplay altogether and only vaguely hinting at the characters' motivations. I mean, it was a catchy song and all, but its plot in song format left an awful lot to be desired.

This is a shame. The art looked pretty good, so I had hopes that the story would hold up its end and result in a nice little spinoff manga, but it seems like it hasn't.
Still waiting for the day when a decent manga featuring Vocaloids will actually be published in print here (that is, if any exist). Dark Horse's Vocaloid manga releases so far appear to be fairly mediocre-to-bad as well. Maybe Acute will be the first good one, but not getting my hopes up.

Seriously? They took a Mika manga and played it straight? Why on Earth didn't they make it a gag/4koma?
