I had the pleasure of meeting Nakajima some twenty years ago. He was quite friendly and really loved talking to the fans!

I had the great pleasure of meeting Nakajima-san at what would have been one of his last appearances in North America (April 2015 at Anime Boston). Though he spoke no English, he was very respectful and patient with his American fans--who, in turn, treated him like royalty. His autographed picture (Mr. G himself stomping a burning Tokyo) hangs above my fireplace.
His Godzilla pictures were a special part of my youth. He will be missed.

Unfortunate that this had to happen. I hope his family and friends can get through this. Thank you for having an impact on many lives.

I was also at Anime Boston in 2015. While Akira Takarada was the very definition of the word "genki" when i chatted with him in Japanese, Haruo Nakajima was the quietly pleased type who looked like he was already ready to go. His hands were shaking as he wrote out the autographs, but he still was happy to see the fans and to smile kindly at them. I am forever grateful for my chance to have been able to see them before Mr. Nakajima's passing.
