Cool. I hope we get some sort of translations from this in the future. An especially interesting era for sure.

Also someone release that Dangaioh blu-ray please ;_;

Interesting. I have several OVA's from that time. Still have the Lasers for "Fight!! Iczer-1", several "Gall Force" OVAs, "El-Hazard", and "Outlanders". Plenty more on Laser Discs.

I'd certainly like to see this book translated in English.

El-Hazard was mid 90's so doesn't fall in the purview of this.

If this book does well I am hopeful there will be a 90's version. There were a lot of well know OVA series from that decade.

I remember seeing the Oshii episode and thought it wasn't one of his better works.

Do you remember Dream Hunter Rem? Fight! Iczer-One? How about Dangaioh? Fans of the obscure and action-packed original video animation from the 1980s will want to get their hands on Original Video Animation (OVA) 80's: Tape ga Head ni Karamu Mae ni, a new book set to hit store shelves in Japan next month.

Obscure? That was my teen years. Anime cry

Interesting, as I am in the process of watching my VHS tapes one last time before disposing of them. Probably half are fan subs, like Fushigi Yugi, Nurse Angel Ririka, Mysterious Thief Saint Tail and others, and rest are commercial releases like Vision of Escaflowne (have that on DVD as well), Dragonball Z, Tenchi Universe, Saber Marionette J and Wanderers TV. Also bought some closing out stock from Jumbo Video that included Iczer, Hyper Doll and others like Dominion Tank Police. Just don't know how much longer the VCR will continue to work and the tapes take up so much space. I'll try and pass them on to a local fan if I can. Hate to see these classics end up in a bin but I don't think there is much of a market for VHS anime.
