The first episode was 90 seconds of show time and 90 seconds of ending animation, so 12 episodes puts this at 18 minutes of show time? I know it's a short but that's pretty absurd.

it is absurd! I often enjoy short format shows, but this was pretty stupid. Now I'm gonna wait until the last ep airs before watching more.
